Now that Cho'Gath has 3 soft CCs, his W should be nerfed.

After the update his laning phase was nerfed and his teamfighting buffed, but his silence lasts way too long, considering it's AoE. Now that his CC is not entirely based on hitting Q then W, he should be nerfed a bit. Because not being able to do anything for 2 seconds (unless you are an ADC) is not healthy.

Yeah, I just lost against a Cho. Yeah, I'm bronze 3.

Thoughts?

Thanks to everyone for your answers. In the end, it looks like he doesn't need a nerf. I can pretty much say this thread is closed. Thanks to everyone again! :D

W is cho's only ability that he can efficiently poke with in lane (unless enemy stands close enough to minions to get poked by his E). Nerfing it would make his early game even weaker than it already is. Leave it alone imo

Nerfing the silence doesn't affect at all the poke. I agree with you about leaving the damage alone, but the silence is stupidly long.

Your opinion doesn't matter because you are bronze. Doog Teg.

  1. You're unranked. Why are you even talking to me?
  2. Oh, right, sorry. I forgot that in higher elo CCs last for a shorter amount of time. Lulz.

Can't waste time talking to bronze sorry. Maybe once you at least diamond or something than you can formulate opinions.

Bad memories.

I am naturally an asshole. I just choose to be "nice" most of the time.

There are tons of champions who can counter Cho'Gath who aren't ADCs. There's quite a few AA based tops, so if Silence is throwing you off, play one of them, not someone almost solely reliant on spells like Riven or Rumble.

Counterplay > Counterpick Am I wrong?

The counter play is dodging his highly telegraphed moves and kiting him around.

You're really not going to find a champion in the game that's easier to kite...

Cho Gath's abilities are very telegraphed.

On paper they seem insanely overpowered.... but in game, they are anything but.

Stepping out of his Q is easy. You can't say the same about his W, even if it's telegraphed.

While his W is not easy to avoid, it is still short ranged and telegraphed.

My point stands; On paper Cho Gath is insanely overpowered..... in practice, he's fine.

He still wrecks melees that try to deal with him. That's not good, his silence shouldn't last that much if dodging the ability is difficult.

His W compensates the long cast time with a wide hitbox that makes it difficult to dodge, and the range becomes irrelevant if you're fighting Cho with a melee champion.

I personally like the new E, and I don't think it's problematic. The %HP damage makes dealing with tanks easier and the AoE slow is good. I do think, however, that he might be overloaded as a champion right now. Too much CC for his base damages.

The main problem with Cho is that he's extremely ability reliant, on a champion whose abilities are very hard to land. He isn't good poking at range, he isn't good in long drawn out fights, he isn't good if you can kite him, and in a 1v1 the ability to flash his Q absolutely destroys him. I'm not trying to say that he's bad, but his weaknesses are glaring. The main problem is that he is, by definition, a literal feast or famine champion. If he has a bad lane matchup, then there's nothing that he can do. However, when he has a good lane matchup he can snowball heavily, with each ult stack adding damage and health.

That being said I do think maybe nerfing his W's silence to 1.75 seconds at all ranks wouldn't be a terrible idea. It would help him in lane since he wouldn't feel quite as much of a need to max W, but it wouldn't be so painful in teamfights to have a 2 second AoE silence. I think lower than that would really hurt him though.
