S5 Placement Matches

I am consistently silver 4 (mainly because I don't play ranked often). Under the "soft reset" I expect to be either Bronze 1 or Silver 5 (as na.op.gg suggests around 1184 MMR at the moment). I am currently going 4-4 in my placements. I have a few questions about placement matches for this season.

a) I understand that Riot is trying to fix the issue of having your placement matches be the main determining factor of your rank and I agree with their decision. Are they incorporating statistics into the MMR, such as KDA, gold gained vs. opponent, etc?

b) Often times, my teammates threw their leads and I tried communicating with them to not do this, or get dragons, etc. Statistics show many things after analyzing the game (for instance, there is a big increase of gold lead after I bought Mejais on Zyra support and proceeding after that purchase, we won a team fight due to a well placed ult; ended up getting most damage in the game somehow and second most gold). Is your MMR also determined by little things like this?

Thanks in advance!

No because that would make people play for their KDA instead of playing to win and KDA doesn't mean who played well and who didn't (tanks for example)

The game is not about kills its about destroying structures. KDA in this game means very little outside of gold gain. You get gold for killing the opponent and lose out on gaining gold for being dead. However the game doesn't end when you reach a certain kill number or when you get a certain amount of gold so they are less important than structures. You want to climb out of low bronze and silver, play split push champions with relatively high mobility. Helps if the champion is underplayed as many of your opponents won't know what your abilities do or how to counter you. I recommend Trundle, Renekton, Wukong, Nasus, Tryndamere or Singed.

Happy Climbing.

No I can honestly say KDA doesn't mean a damn thing in placements. If you were consistently silver 4 at your current rate even if you went 6-4 you are gonna end up bronze 4/5. I was consistently silver 1/2 getting into gold promo regularly and I got bombed to bronze 1. This despite the fact that my Kda was solid in every single placement.

Supposedly people are arguing that your pre season mmr has the greatest effect on your placements. However in practice it appears more that they just flat cut it in half. There are tons of posts at this point of people showing they clearly had a gold mmr getting bombed to bronze. Which shouldn't be possible if your previous mmr was only a determining factor or especially the main determining factor. However due to how it is working, if you slice peoples mmr in half, then weight losses in the first 5 games extremely heavily then it can. So basically if you don't go 5-0 in your first 5 matches you are probably going to end up heavily punished by the system and at least a full division below where you were.

Okay fair enough. I was wondering if there are anything else other than just simply wins-losses.

Placements are so screwed up this season it's ridiculous.

Kinda sick of dealing with the BS in this game... guess I'll just go do something else.

Just expect to get placed lower than you think, be surprised if you aren't, but always be ready to climb. The upside is that if you bomb your placements and get placed low you will get huge lp gains from wins and be able to enter promos with like 3-4 wins from 0 lp.
