Match-Making: What Happened?

Ever since Season 6 ended last week, I've been finding myself playing against people who are Gold 3 or Higher in Normal Queues. This was never the case before seasons end since i was matched against people of equal skill (in my case, it's between High Bronze - High Silver). It hardly seems fair when you pit someone who isn't even that good at the game against someone who's incredibly good at what they're doing. It's kinda like inviting your friend to play Smash Bros. & you give them a unplugged/busted controller to play with while you get the better controller. I'd understand if this was Ranked Queue since everyone wants to make that climb next season all the better, but it shouldn't be like this in Normals. Hopefully this gets answered at some point & hopefully gets fixed as soon as possible.

MMR is all jumbled right now. I don't understand why it's so bad, though.

If you're just playing norms, I don't think it's such a bad thing. More diversity, lets the lower skilled players look at people who are better then them, and hopefully they can look at their playstyles in a positive way and use it as a learning experience.

Same for ranked. Flex queue doesn't mean much, as soloq will be introduced to all ranks soon and flex will likely be gone with the wind. So for now, just enjoy it :).

I appreciate your Optimism, I really do. When you put it like that, It's actually not a bad Idea learning from them. However, attitudes & BM are what usually tilt me to the point where I get fed up. One of the reasons I keep /All Chat off actually. :T

Yeah, I can understand that.

And thanks mate :).

But yeah, bm and toxicity is as prevalent as ever, unfortunately. But I find you sometimes just have to ignore it. You can keep your /allchat on if you'd like, unless you get tilted really easily :o.

If you're playing norms, I'd recommend it be on, simply because I've found most of the people on my friendslist I've met are on the enemy team :p.

Now if we're talking about ranked, I usually don't talk to my teammates or the enemy team one bit. One comment can rile one person of the team up, and when someone gets tilted, their playstyle gets affected in a negative way, resulting in a top lane who goes 0/4 within 10 minutes :/.

Ranked flex MMR matchmaking is broken and riot has a fix for that one when they next have downtime.

Normals draft is just unusually populated with people who'd normally be playing ranked. Higher rank people often have near starting normals mmr, so the matchmaking is based on that which sometimes makes for some questionable matchups. Should be working as expected though.

Well hopefully that fix comes soon. Not exactly the best feeling in the world when a Platinum player gets a double & starts talking like he's a big shot.
