I'm being placed with Silver players...I'm in Iron

I'm just curious how it is that throughout this entire season, I've been placed in games with Silver players and Bronze players....It doesn't make sense because I'm not either of those ranks. It sucks then to have my whole team be iron while we are playing against silver and bronze players. Not that there is/isn't a gap, but it seems unfair to me who is trying to rank up. Why is this happening to me?
