I don't hate Yasuo but

How is windwall balanced?

I'm not saying this in an arrogant way, I am literally asking. It was designed to counter ranged abilities. It can completely negate other champions ultimates (Ashe, Veigar, Jhin, Nami, etc).

However Cho'Gath's rupture or Ryze's prison completely bypasses windwall, because they are not projectiles. I ask how is windwall balanced, because Cho and Ryze both came out long before Yasuo was conceived. Before ranged abilities were balanced around windwall. Newer champions like Vel'Koz were designed around windwall (Vel's autos, w, e, r all pass through).

Doesn't this create some inconsistencies? Beatrice is blocked by windwall, even though she's not a projectile (crows are living too).

Was windwall already a concept at the very beginning of League, and they planned to put it in at some point? Otherwise, it just seems like a balancing nightmare.
