Have I been improving?

Hello! I started playing league in very late December 2016, with the majority of my learning phase throughout season 7. In season 7, I placed Bronze 1, and season 8 placed Bronze 2 (Even though I did better than my S7 placements) and climbed up to SIlver V, and am still attempting to climb and hope for gold by the end of the season. I would like to think I've been improving in my norms games and branched out to more champions than when i was playing in early season 8, bur I'd like other opinions. My friends who I play with tell me I play like high silver to gold V, but I think they may be biased because I'm their friend. Like anyone, I have a bad game or a bad streak every once in a while, but theyve been happening less frequently and my good games are getting better. I'd like some opinions on my playing, and if you have any tips or suggestions, or want to ask me about how i play to help me improve more, please post them in the comments!

I really appreciate such a positive post instead of endless crying about OP champions.

As to your games, I'd love to advise something, but I don't play jungle at all. The only issue I see is that sometimes you have a lot of deaths, and it's almost always a mistake. Try not to die unless it's absolutely needed (going 1 for 1 is not needed if you're ahead), watch and memorise some common jungle routes and lane matchups to know when to gank and when not to.

Also, never ever aimlessly run around the map. The pattern for winning is pretty simple - you have to take objectives. Always ask yourself why you're doing what you're doing, what it brings to your team and if you could've done anything better. In the current meta, you can freely taken nash even with only one opponent dead, so pay attention to that.

Good luck with the game.

I think you're right. A lot of the time when I'm in game, I get excited and think about all the carry potential I have... Which then leads to me getting cocky. I need to work on that and I appreciate it. I've been playing a lot of jungle recently, but im true to heart as a toplane main (but that could change with my new love for warwick)

I think the most accurate answer is... "Probably."

It's hard to say for sure, statistically, because the game changes quite a bit from season to season. But given how learning and muscle memory work, odds are you're improving steadily. Your steady growth could be core skill improvement, or just you adapting better than others to seasonal changes, or a bit of both. Either way it's a plus. Being able to adapt to the game's major patches is part of being good at the game, too.

As to your comment in your reply to the first guy, about your carry potential and cockiness... Yeah, that's an easy thing to succumb to. This is easier said than done but... Once you start leaving the lane, try to always be thinking about yourself in the context of the team. Not so much "I can carry my team," but "I can help my team win." Take an offensive lineman in football. If he's extremely good at what he does, his team has a better chance of winning. His good plays often go unnoticed by the masses, even many teammates, but they're good plays and they advance the ball. Even if he's not shining all the time, he's a great player.

If you approach it that way, it might help you temper your tendency to play aggressive, which can lead to mistakes that turn a good performance sour. (I know this from looooots of experience... I still have trouble with this from time to time.)

I really appreciate your reply to my post. You're definitely right. Unlike some people on this board, when It comes to change im more adaptable and accepting of it. Alongside that, I do believe my micro skills have definitely been improving. Once I start to get over my cockiness, i know i'll be able to work on my macro more.

Personally I think that you are improving. Basically when you are able to climb, that means you are doing something right. I can recommend you to play similar champions, and get used to the playstyle. Warwick and Trundle are really good in this way. When you are playing jungle, try to always be when the enemy jungler is gonna be. 2:45 - 3:15 the enemy jungler is gonna mostly gank top lane. Never just roam around the map aimlessly, always farm, and when you are really fast with your clear make sure you have vision around import objectives like Herald, Baron and Drake. Also try to camp some lanes when there are no camps to clear. Before you get tiamat dont take chickens and Krugs, its not time efficient at all.

If you see champs like Nasus, tell your laner not to push, but to just freeze and last hit, so you can camp the hell out of that champ, so he will be useless later in the game. I alwaays say that every jungler has to be masochistic, because everything is always your fault.

After you get used to farming and ganking effectively, you should learn how to push lanes when enemy laners leave so they will loose minions (Gold + Exp) becase the minions get killed by turret :).

Btw, never get cocky, you are not invincible, and farm > kills.

Anyway, GL.

I feel like learning a hard champion is great. When I first tried Nidalee she was hard as Hell. I got used to her within months. Just some time later when I somewhat knew Nidalee I started to try Kindred, and Kindred were pretty easy for me, even though they're full on difficult. Then some more time later I also started playing more easy champions like Shyvana and Evelynn. But I also started trying Elise again. My first games with her were great, keep in mind before I even knew how to play Nidalee I only knew about Jinx and Warwick. Back before I mained or even knew how to use Nidalee I was AWFUL at her. i feel like learning hard champions makes it easier to learn more and more that are hard.

I have been starting to learn Gangplank a little bit, and hes a more difficult champion than I'm used to and I 100% agree. If you learn the harder champions, the easy ones become easier.

i'd say you're definitely on the right track playing Warwick , keep grinding warwick games and maybe try another position besides jungle every once in a while, maybe some top lane garen or mid lane annie

I actually do play a lot of toplane and adc as well as jungle. I usually play roles in bursts, where I stick to one role for a few days then swap to another. I've been expanding my champion pool significantly, considering a few months ago I was an Urgot otp
