Every game I spectate is "open mid"

What the title says. I used to spectate games a lot to check how to make plays and learn builds, but ever since the last patch at min 10-12 people just say "open mid" and then let the game end. I don't know whats happening but I think it has to do with the new snowball changes that riot has implemented, now it has the same problem as HotS where people just give up if the other has a lead. Since most games available to spectate from the client start at min 8 then I just get 2-4 mins of game play before they have open mid... I hope riot changes his policy because honestly I don't know if spectating or watching games is worth it anymore... even the games I play its 6-1 or 2-12 all the time and one just doesn't want to play anymore.
