How is this the minority if the dislike bar is so huge? Are the riot fanboys going to come up with new arguments after the overwhelming proof that the MAJORITY of players hate Dynamic Queue?

People claim "board and reddit are only minorities!"

and I can see them soon say "youtube and twitch are only minorities!"

and it will revolve into "pro players and high elo players' opinion aren't valid".

Lauchmelder17 votes

High elo and pro player opinions are as valid as any other opinion IN THEIR RESPECTIVE RANK.

DQ is broken up there but a lot of DQ haters just hate it due to the pros talking about their discontent with the new system and not because they formed their own opinion.

90% of the players are gold or lower and down here there is only one problem: The defeatist attitude of those hating premades.

For me absolutely nothing changed. Season 5 and 6 felt the same. The only difference was balance.

The reason for that might be due to me being able to integrate myself into the team no matter the premade/solo.

And I exclusively played solo to get my rank.

The Deckowner23 votes

I as a solo player have the required skill to deal with premades, but the decline of game quality seriously bothered me. Premades generally DON'T communicate with solo players other than flaming. Every game was won by completely outskilling enemy premade, not because the "teamwork" rito promoted.

People don't understand statistics either.

A sample size reflects the whole thing. If 95% of people on boards and reddit despise DyQ, then it is statistically likely that somewhere around 95% of people in the entire community dislike DyQ. We are just the vocal ones.

IGotScuttleCrabs18 votes

That's a terrible way to look at. People in general talk more when it comes to things they dislike. You get a bad burger at McD's you complain. No one ever walks back to the counter or go online and say "hey that was a really good McDouble!".

The majority of players that are fine or love DQ aren't going to talk about something that isn't broken for them. Like the guy above says, S5 and S6 don't feel any different for him. Me as well. And probably countless more. So we're not going to come to boards, Reddit, YouTube and make posts like "wow DQ hasn't affected me and I didn't even notice a change and I love it! And now I don't know why I'm posting about a thing I didn't notice!"

Its not.

Its basic stadistics. Law of Big Numbers and whatnot.

Where have you been? Those posts and comments appear everywhere. The difference is that they get downvoted into oblivion because very little people share that opinion.

One, the law of large numbers isn't related to what they were saying. The law of large numbers suggests that as a sample size increases the medium will become closer to the population medium. We aren't talking about a quantitative value here, so there is no medium.

Two, sample bias like what Crabs suggested is an actual thing that happens frequently in voluntary polls, such as on Youtube videos.

Three, I have been on the boards (mostly as a lurker) and I haven't seen that many comments talking about how they consider DQ to be fine. Even if they are actually quite numerous, you still have the sample bias problem because the upvote system is a voluntary poll.

The Whamboozler11 votes

Here's the problem. Down this road lies complete self-absorption. How does Riot get intel about things being popular or hated if they don't rely on their own forums, Reddit or polls? If they can just say "well I mean, vocal minority" no matter what responses they get... they will stop caring about responses entirely. This means Riot will essentially no longer operate with ANY fan input whatsoever. It's possible that they already don't. Many of their choices have been VERY harshly judged, hated or spoken out against and they just stride by without a care.

Is them listening to the vocal people on the forums and Reddit worse than them listening to NO ONE? If Reddit is asking for changes that people dislike, more people might take to the forums or whatnot to say so. If Riot is basically ignoring the fans entirely... there IS no recourse. We just have to eat whatever shit the put on our spoons.

What's more, it used to work the other way around. Riot used to listen to the fans and the vocal players. Those are the people most interested in their game. A lot of skin ideas came from there. Some champ ideas were inspired by fans asking for this or that. Riot USED to listen to their fans. Now they don't. If you think the later is better, that's your opinion.... but I could NOT disagree more.

Leetri6 votes

They are minorities though, the VAST majority of players never ever visit the boards, the youtube channel or even read the Patch Notes. 15,000 downvotes isn't even remotely close to 1% of the player base, you'd need ~30 million to get the 51% majority. It's like the whole Tyler1 thing again. Socrates' post got downvoted to oblivion because all the Tyler1 fanboys found out about it because of his stream. This video obviously made all the DQ haters flock to it and mass downvote it as well. Not saying it isn't justified in this case, just saying that it's not a good sample to base judgement on. Unless we can get a COMPLETELY RANDOM sample of players it's impossible to tell how many people actually like/dislike DQ.

The Deckowner16 votes

The video is literally on the client, anyone who logs into the game will see it, that is 100% of the playerbase.

elon wątroba4 votes

Nope I haven't seen it, and not going to.

The Deckowner12 votes

That is your personal choice not to see it, the video is on the clientfor everyone to see.

It's like when they run an election the government tells everyone to vote, yes you can choose to not vote, but no you can't say the government didn't let/tell you to vote.

Baron of Bread1 votes

The difference there is that you have a given incentive to vote in the election for the government. We have no given incentive to watch the video, and we have no given incentive to vote on it (which I don't think we can do from the client). If I don't have a strong opinion about DQ or don't care to learn about the thought behind it and see that it is an over 25 minute video, I sure as heck am not going to bother to watch it and therefore not vote on it.

The video's viewers are a pristine example of a biased sample.

The Deckowner8 votes

So you are saying the opinion of the players who care about the game are meaningless and the ones who don't give a shit should be weighted heavier?

Even in real life you know the ones who are more politically active have more influence interms of pokitical direction.

RoodToob1 votes

But because i don't mind DQ, i don't click on the actual video. I read the article to know whats up, but didn't bother with the vid. Plus those who did bother and didn't mind it or liked it where on the client (most likely) and seeing as they didn't care, they didn't go out of their way to like it

The Deckowner3 votes

People who dont give a shit>people who dislike dynamic queue>people who support dynamic queue Even in a minority vs minority scenario more people still dislike dynamic queue. Honestly tho why would we even count in the people who don't give a shit... if they don't care they clearly don't hold an opinion.

Baron of Bread2 votes

You still have failed to show that the number of people who dislike DQ is higher than the number who like it. You need a non-biased sample, and that YouTube video is a fantastic example of a biased sample.

The Deckowner2 votes

as long as you guys refuse to admit any data on,thw internet you wont ever get a result. if people liked the dynamic bullsht they would go in and like the video, your arguement is so dumb.

Baron of Bread2 votes

Liking DQ and liking the video are different things. You are trying to say that the video's like/dislike function is an effective sampler for the League community, which is bogus as all get out. In addition, people don't like champion spotlights for champions they like (otherwise there would probably be more than 29000 likes on Zed's spotlight), they won't like the roundtable for a queue they like.

an effective sampler would be to reintroduce solo que and having dynamic que parrallel to it.

if people are chosing one of the two options with overwhelming majority, then thats an effective community vote. so why arent they doing it?

In the Video, Lobbster, the main dev for DynamicQ said : "we never had that much peoples playing ranked right now" to trying to tell us there never been that much players playing since DynamicQ come out like it was a great thing.

SoloQ GONE, Ranked's 5 GONE, TwistedTreeline ranked GONE, TeamBuilder GONE, Dominon GONE.

Nope, it must be dynamic queue everyone loves.

Valexfor9 votes

Like I always said: Dynamic Queue is so hated because most people need something to blame for theyr losses, it's the player's fault if Dynamic Queue feels different from Solo Queue: you can still play solo, you can still win games, you can still do whatever you did in Solo Queue but can also play with your friends. Solo Queue was as stupid as Dynamic Queue is now, it had the same problems and even more, you forgot how people used to describe solo queue? "Match me with a team of feeders/retards" or "ruin my friendship" or shit like that all the time so it's not that different from now. I myself don't like/dislike neither of them since, as a person with average intellect, I understand that dynamic queue offers everything solo queue did but also offers me the opportunity to play with friends and climb together (which means that dynamic queue actually gives us more choices than the solo queue, that you guys idolize so much, gave).

Or, and get ready for this; People don't like the fact that the game they've played for 6 years was suddenly changed to an entirely different one for no justifiable reason.

The best argument against DQ is; if you add SQ, everyone will flock to it and DQ will fail.... do you not understand what this means?

Valexfor5 votes

Oh really? Then implement sq over dq and we'll have people saying "I'm losing because the people I play with are bad and the enemy team is good, let me play with people I can trust! (dq)". People are still complaining that they get matched with idiots when they CAN play in a premade, what would they say if they didn't even have the option to? They would ask for dq again, only to cry that "the game matched me agaisnt a 5 man premade, fuck dq, I want sq back" and the cicle would repeat forever. It's not that if you are against a premade they will be, by default, better than you: as long as you are all evenly skilled both teams have a 50% chance of winning no matter how many premades there are but obviously when you are (or deserve) silver and get placed against a plat (or someone who deserves it) the chances aren't so fair anymore (and that's what made a lot of people tilt in the first place, getting placed against significantly higher/lower ranked opponents. Even Gbay and Scarra said in the video that the problem aren't premade themselves but the queue times and the quality of the games that are shit tier right now) but premades have no real advantage over a normal team, they aren't stronger, they aren't better, they don't deal more damage and aren't more tanky right? LoL is a team game remember? If you don't know how to play in a team it's your lack of skills that's preventing you from climbing: you can be the best mechanical player in the world but if you don't know how to cooperate you will hardly win agaisnt a compact team. The only thing you might argue about is that a premade has an easier time forming a strategy since they tend to be friends and listen to each other, but that doesn't mean your team can't have one as long as all people are evenly skilled and have at least an average IQ. People want to "solo carry" every time and play solo on purpose so that they can blame the team and the queue for matching them with retards agaisnt a premade, it's really all about having something to blame, if dq was well built it wouldn't have felt so shitty but again it's not that the idea itself is bad (like a lot of people say) it's that they made a shit job of implementing it. Also: people have asked for the possibility to play ranked with friends, it's not like riot suddenly decided to give it to us, there were a lot of people asking for that but now that they have it, since it's not working as THEY wanted, they find any excuse to say it's shit.

The issue isn't that you can play with friends, the ISSUE is solos being matched against teams isn't "fair", the REASON is "queue times". So Riot is prioritizing "queue times" over (in their own breakdown) "match quality". Yes, if queue times were measured in hours then people WOULD complain about THAT but here's the real question, how MANY people are in premades vs. solos? If solos had 5 min queue times and premades had 1 hr queue times, THEN its a question of what PLAYERS want MORE, since you can't have both.

Valexfor3 votes

Under Diamond every 1 in 1000 games people finde themselves against a 5 man premade when they are solo. The problem rises in Diamon where it's 1 every 150 and in Master + where it's 1 in 25 like they say here . So yeah, the problem is not premades. It's that people just like to complain and just follow the masses, the problem is match quality, not premades, also match timers are a huge issue when you need to wait for 50 mins to get a game. Don't take part of my post and use it against me, I'm not dumb and I know what I say so I also know that you are just understanding what you want to instead of the whole post. Also I repeat: why isn't it fair to fight a team? It's totally fair as longas I also have one, be it 5 total strangers or 5 premade it won't change anything, they have no real advantage over you.

BestTristMyHaus8 votes

{quoted}

Also I repeat: why isn't it fair to fight a team? It's totally fair as longas I also have one, be it 5 total strangers or 5 premade it won't change anything, they have no real advantage over you.

a) You shouldn't have any 5 vs non-5, but ignoring that part, I was not talking specifically about 5 vs "other number", I was simply saying that a larger pre-made has an advantage over a smaller premade (or all solos). To go back to the whole "feeder/troll" line, if I have a team of 4, I only have 1/5 people that might be troll/feeder (the ODDS are actually much lower, but only 1 of my people is someone I don't know approx how they are), vs if I have a team of 2, against said team of 4, I have 3/5 people that might be troll/feeder, aka MY odds are much higher. Therefore, ignoring any OTHER advantages your premade has, statistically I'm more likely to have bad players. b) Your point is totally false as even RIOT (in your own link) acknowledges that premades HAVE an advantage:

We’ll be adjusting premade handicaps further to even the playing field between premades and non-premades.

You may disagree, but I think this is bad BOTH ways. If I play solo, I will sometimes (often?) get matched against people that HAVE an advantage. If I play with friends, I will get matched against people that are better than me because I AM playing with friends. Again, this is a problem for ME because I personally do NOT prioritize Queue Times. (I liked TeamBuilder when it was around)

Valexfor1 votes

a) It's totally fair to have a 5 vs a "non" 5 as long as both teams have the same number of people. I used this 5 agaisnt non 5 because: if it's fair in the worst case, it's fair in every other case. It's just an excuse to say it's not fair. Odds really are just that: odds. If you take odds into consideration then the enemy team has the same odds as you since the enemy team has the same odds as you to find a x man premade against a team of full solo players so it's still fair, wanna only use your specific point of view? The odds won't change: that 1/5 solo player has the same odds of being both worse or better than you, so it's still completely fair. You can't have an argument when you say "I have more odds to have a bad player" but don't take into account that you have the same odds that that player is better than you. So: your argument is valid only when the odds that that player is worse than you/enemy are higher/smaller than the odds that that player is better than you/your enemy, which is not the case here.

b) Nope, my point is not false since they don't say that premades have an advantage, they don't have any, like I already said: premades don't give you more ad, as, ap, ar, mr, ms, hp, mana, whatever, so they have no advantage, they are exactly as strong as you would be with the same runes/masteries/champ. They want to adjust the system because they have an "indirect advantage", which is simply that solo players tend to not trust each other, but it's not a fault of the system or of riot, it's the players who just think they're perfect and everyone else drags them down so they make a fault of of the system and say that riot is full of incompetents, so riot has to work around that even if they could just say: if you can't play in a team it's your problem, not mine, but if they wee to do so most casual players wouldn't play the game so they have to accept this compromise,

Also there are people who really can't prioritize anything else over queue times: they have jobs, families, problems, so they can only play for 1-2 hours a day, if queue were too long they wouldn't be able to play at all, so queue times are incredibly important in a game.

BestTristMyHaus6 votes

Wrong, because you're discounting troll/feeder (which was my point). Let's use real terms. You and I both have a roulette wheel. If the ball lands on "red" the player is better than me, if it lands on "black" the player is worse than me. I have equal odds of getting "red" or "black", but if the ball lands on "O" (green) then I get a feeder (player who is intentionally trying to lose). Now, I'm going to spin the wheel and throw in 1 ball. You're going to spin the wheel and throw in 3 balls. We'll keep doing that until one of us hits green. I'll bet you $1,000 you hit green before I do. The ODDS are in my favor. You may win, but if we do this a million times and each time $1,000 gets paid to the other by whoever hits green, I'll come out ahead, that's how casinos work and WHY they make a lot of money.

The argument with Solo-Q was that I throw 4 balls and you throw 5, therefore MY odds were better. (I am NOT saying Solo-Q was "great" or "perfect", the "ELO hell" whining proves it wasn't, I'm saying Dynamic Q ADDS problems for LESS gain, IMO)

b) Nope, my point is not false since they don't say that premades have an advantage, they don't have any

That is plainly wrong. How many examples do you want? As recently as this past Spring Season people were saying TSM and others took time to adjust to new players, therefore, OBVIOUSLY teams that have experience with each other have an advantage over teams that do not. Even taking "comms" and other things out, using Bot lane as an example, you can be a Silver 2 support, and there can be a friend of mine that is also a Silver 2 support, but as an ADC I'll play better with my friend Silver 2 support because we KNOW (from experience) when and how we want to engage. If my friend KNOWS I'm an aggressive ADC and you tend to play more safely, all other champs/eq/spells/ etc can be exactly the same, but you get me killed because you don't respond as well or as quickly to what I do as my friend does. Maybe I tend to make bad plays but my friend knows what I do and covers for me VERY well whereas you just identify it (correctly) as a bad play and let me die, and then the enemy snowballs = lose.

BestTristMyHaus10 votes

{quoted}

you forgot how people used to describe solo queue? "Match me with a team of feeders/retards"

I would like to point out that the standard rebuttal to this claim was "statistically your odds of being matched with feeders/trolls/etc is lower than the enemy team, since you have 4 other players and they have 5". If you are a solo player, "statistically" your odds of getting stuck with bad players is worse now as proven by their own graphs that larger premade teams have a statistically MUCH higher win-rate against smaller premades/solos.

Valexfor2 votes

Never said it's not a problem anymore, that claim is there to show that the premade excuse is just the "new trend", people seem to forget about sq problems when talkign about it now. For the win-rate: yes and no. What I mean with this is that, the team with better teamwork has more chances to win so indirectly a bigger premade, which has an easier time formulating a strategy, has a higher win-rate. But that's still not a fault of the queue: is it the queue fault if you can't play in a team? Nope, but if you are a good player you will know how to play in a team (especiallyin higher elos), so you will also be able to play in a team with total strangers and communicate with them, if you can't it's you that is lacking, not the system that's bad. And that's what a lot of people don't want to accept since it's easy to say that somebody else lost you the game and not acknowledge you made mistakes too. You would be also right if you were to say "I don't know those people, how can I trust them?", but that's still your problem and if you played well but someone in your team did poorly it's not like you would've won against a team with 5 stranges, you odds would've been the same. In League of legends your rank usually reflects your teamwork capabilities, so it's obvious that people with better teamwork win more games (and so premades have a higher win-rate). Again: the system is not perfect and they did a shit job at building it, but the idea behind it is FAR better than the idea behind solo q, and that's what I want people to understand before complaining that the system is bad because it's bad (like a lot of people do because someone else said it's bad).

BestTristMyHaus8 votes

{quoted}

Again: the system is not perfect and they did a shit job at building it, but the idea behind it is FAR better than the idea behind solo q

The suggestion that it is "FAR better" is ENTIRELY arbitrary based only on what you choose to center your axis of comparison on. Based on the video, Riot says it is better because games are "less toxic", we can CLEARLY see (and Riot tangentally acknowledged) that games are "less fair". So the question is more a matter of what you choose to view as the primary point of reference. THIS is my major issue with the response given in the video. I LOVE that Pwyff ASKED the important question of "what did we gain" since everyone is complaining about what we "lost", so far, the ONLY "gain" I've heard is less toxicity, which MOST people ascribe to role selection rather than DQ.

Xonra8 votes

Dynamic Queue is so hated because most people need something to blame for theyr losses

And like I've said, people like you that keep repeating this are clueless and aren't actually reading or listening to what people are saying.

I've seen a handful of people complain about losing due to premades, but I've heard that from very few people.

You are just choosing to ignore the real reasons and pick that one out (which isn't even anywhere close to the main real reasons people don't like DQ) to try and discredit an opposing opinion.

You are just spouting some barely readable nonsense, then call yourself "average intelligent", while just fabricating comments to, again, discredit an opinion you don't like. It's clear you are clueless to the facts, and have no idea what you are talking about, and just want to join in on the "drama".

Valexfor1 votes

Then give me some proofs of what you say. If I read people saying "being agaisnt a premade is not fair" then I have to conclude that that person is just crying since it's completely fair. If I see someone say "I want sq back" then I will say "sq is also a part of dq, since dq can let you play solo". I'm just responding to what people say. And that's really what the people I've responded to are crying about. But go on, explain the real reasons everyone cries about dq and we'll discuss about them, but if 9/10 (everyone I've found up to now was crying about one thing: premades) people say that they lose because it's not fair to go against a premade I have to respond to those 9 people that they are just making up excuses. I'm all open if it's someone with actual arguments.

Then give me some proofs of what you say.

Or you could just read any thread made over the past week (let alone months). You are the one spouting b.s. and incorrect "facts" when the information has been tossed in your face constantly if you've read the boards at any point in the past like 2-3 months.

If I read people saying "being agaisnt a premade is not fair" then I have to conclude that that person is just crying

Your conclusions are just based off of "I don't like this opinion, so I'm going to fabricate information based off of assumptions, then insult people". You aren't actually concluding anything, you are just being salty because reasons.

If I see someone say "I want sq back" then I will say "sq is also a part of dq, since dq can let you play solo".

Further proof you have no idea what the whole conversation is even about.

I'm just responding to what people say.

No you are just responding to what you are "Assming" people mean, because I've not seen much of what you are even trying to spout. You are just spewing ignorance and false claims lol

And that's really what the people I've responded to are crying about.

No you is "crying" about anything. You just pulled some statement out of your ass that no one in this thread (since you said you were "responding to people") has come close to stating.

But go on, explain the real reasons everyone cries about dq and we'll discuss about them

You clearly don't want a discussion, you just want to further the drama by making misinformed and completely fabricated claims. If you have something to say that isn't just insults and b.s., then I'm sure someone might want to have a real discussion with you, and not just an argument telling you how ignorant you are sounding with just insulting people who were being perfectly civil.

I personally find it really funny that the "majority of players" hate Dynamic queue, because you also have to remember that ~70% of League of Legend's community/player-base is Bronze-Silver.

I mean, statistics don't lie. Approximately 26% of League's community (all regions combined) is Bronze, while 38% are Silver. Often, Riot doesn't take the opinions on gameplay, balance or clients from this portion of the playerbase. Generally, Riot looks at involvements that happen at Plat+.

Is that messed up? Kinda, but it's necessary. You can't properly design a game if you listen to the worst 70% of the playerbase, who originally believed that Solo Queue is why they were Bronze/Silver, now they blame it on Dynamic Queue.

How is this the minority if the dislike bar is so huge?

Because it's still only ~12k downvotes, which is a lot, but not necessarily representative of the entire community. Most people who go on to dislike the video have an axe to grind. Remember the storm after Tyler1 got banned? Your average player had no idea who he was.

Riot on the other hand will continue to rest on their claim that more players are playing ranked than ever before, which, even if true, is a contentious claim on the success of DQ.

That's actually a pretty fair sample size.

IF it were a random sample, it'd be more than enough to extrapolate. But it's not random.

Youtube is random since it is not necessarily league related nor is the video on dynamic queue specifically talking about the problems of dynamic queue in the label. Thus those who visit are no more likely to have strong views on dynamic queue than any other demographic.

How is it random?

It is obviously League Related (what a dumb thing to say) seeing as it is on the League of Legends YouTube channel, and the video is titled "Dynamic Queue Roundtable".

Those who visit it are doing so because they are subscribed to the LoL channel, were linked to it, saw it on Reddit, or the fact that it was on the LoL website (And forum) embedded in an article of sorts.

You are making a LOT of false assumptions lol
