Tips for Shyvana

Hiya boards, resident enchanter support main here who recently acquired the Super Galaxy Shyvana skin shard from hextech crafting (thanks for the free shit, Riot!), loved the skin design, bought Shyvana to unlock the skin, and turns out I really like Shyvana, too. Win-Win!

And while I'm not absolutely brain dead about jungle (like, I get the gist and theory of how it's supposed to work, I'm just garbage at ganking, mostly), it is not my best role.

Therefore:

  1. What is Shyvana's starting jungle path? I've been sticking with the "start whatever buff is your bot side" routine, which, out of my two games with her, has meant blue.

  2. What should I be building on her? I'm new in general to tanks and bruisers, and tbh I'm not entirely sure what Shyvana falls under. Juggernaut? And what jungle item should I be building? The recommendation in game suggests item 1416 but some guides I've seen said take item 1418 or item 1419.

  3. Skill order. I get that I max W first, but then do I max E or Q? And what exactly are her combos?

  4. How should I gank as Shyvana? Can she tower dive reliably? Should I even tower dive with her?

You don't gank as Shyvana, you mostly farm and try to invade the enemy jungle. Also her build is usually item 1419 / item 1416 item 3748 item 3022 item 3742 and then you just adapt it with the enemy comp.

Max W -> E -> Q. Try to steal dragons, since you can solo them easily. For runes, I like PTA with Legend Tenacity - Coup de grace - Triumph, and Resolve with Unfliching and Overgrowth (tenacity is a must-have imo, since she only have a MS-boost spell and a single "dash"). Once again I'm not an OTP Shyvana, but I had good results with this build path for a few games.

And also, my advice would be to build item 1418 only when you have an annoying enemy jungler who can clean camps so quickly that you don't even have time to check them (Nunu Ivern Chogath Evelynn), same for dragons, so that you can keep an eye on them while also being able to check their jungle (seeing if they cleaned up theirs before invading yours for instance).

I like item 1416 into frozen mallet

Also I take summoner 3 instead of summoner 4 her W and ult make you really not need it and sadly plants also help with getting in and out of baron/dragon steals

Pathing always start wherever bot it unless you wanna be cheeky and steal their second buff

Step 1. Farm. Step 2. Farm. Step 3. Farm. Step 4. Hit 18 while the enemy is level 4 and 1v5

Don't ask questions like these, because someone else's playstyle might not fit yours.

Play her lots, build differently and trial new things, every game is different and build needs to be thought about each game.

You'll eventually learn to play her.
