to riot on strategic diversity

regarding the patch rundown 5.21: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Fxg0J6ppmA&feature=youtu.be

the one guy brought up strategic diversity and talked about how that applies to the champion pool, then xpecial talked about how the gameplay did not feel strategically diverse to him. then the guy said he disagreed on that, but that was where he wasn't quite correct:

if gameplay is not strategically diverse, than that will directly affect which champions are viable. and if many champions represent the same strategy of gameplay, then that means that those champions are strategically narrow, not diverse.

and actually, that first speaker even capitialized on this. he said how a viewer is excited to see all the picks that happened at worlds, but the players found that to be quite frustrating as they were essentially going into the tournament not knowing what to pick.

strategic diversity is going to be at its peak when, the top-tier players pick a large pool of champions AND also feel confident in picking who they pick. if they know what to pick and don't pick more than a small pool of champions, that yes I agree that isn't strategically diverse. however, if they pick a myriad of champions because they don't know what is strategically valid, that is also not strategic diversity. strategic diversity is there being validity in multiple strategic decisions. if there is no sense of validity, you cannot have strategic diversity. if you are aware that the players are picking a large pool of champions because they don't know what is good, you should know that something is off. strategic validity is needed for there to be strategic diversity.

But you cant test for Validity until after you have made the changes to diversity

Id agree that throwing in jugernauts right before worlds was a bad idea.
