Just to see if/how it works?
Edit: What I mean by this, is that it gives Riot a way to get at least SOME data on how receptive everyone is to Solo Queue. Because the boards are pretty derogatory, and the majority of players do not frequent them.

So what if you clicked on the tab that said PVP, then there was a gold font that said "Solo Queue." Then you click it... then you queue up with 9 other people who are not premades? I mean, didn't think I would have to explain that...
DrCyanide1 votesOK, but a "Featured Game Mode" that doesn't change the game nor the lobby, only the matchmaking? A separate ranked ladder that lasts for 3 days? That's why the suggestion makes no sense.
