Why do pros use Janna?

I don't see her around in the lower elos. Why do only pros and higher elos use her?

  1. She has a higher skillcap
  2. She gives her team what low elo people can't really appreciate or make good use of (defensive CC that is impractical and unreliable to use offensively, no dmg, a strong AD steroid) - high elo teams, however, can work with the steroid and do appreciate the ability to only fight on their terms while the initiation comes from other people

this plus janna is very ad reliant so if your adc is garbage( most carries in low elo) then you are going to be miserable and probably lose blitz leona alistar are a lot better for making plays

She's the second easiest sup, her ADC needs to be decent=lol@bronze.

Is that the reason why you're level 12?...

When do people learn what a forum-post-account is.

Oh ya silver, but nice argument downy.

She requires a lot of skill to play, nothing against lower elos, but she isn't easy to play well.

She's like Bard: Crap with crap players, amazeballs with amazing players

(that said, most of the difficulty is in her ult, which can make or break a teamfight. She also has great disengage tools even if you aren't able to use her ult well.)

Sukishoo2 votes

Yeah, she has the highest skill cap for supports... so she's very hard for a lot of people to use. Though I used her to climb from b5 to s5 in season 4's pre-season (as I played nothing but her to learn how to truly use her)

A GOOD JANNA..... IS GODLY...

and a good raka... can carry a whole team..

Honestly.. the reason you dont see them in low elos.. is because low elos don't quite comprehend how to support as them.. people here prefer supports that seem OP like Sonas, Blitz, thresh.

I play support. I can't play janna. not because she isnt much. but you have to be good to carry as her..

Sona is in my opinion the worst support in the game crappy heals crappy poke crappy in lane crappy teamfighting and squishy enough she usually dies before her ult goes off I do not understand her high play rate.

Judging by your name, your a Jinx adc main.. And most ADCs rate their supports abilities very much lower then themselves. Dunning cugour very common in ADC mains.. espically in bronze/silver..

Sona isn't that bad. played right a Sona can be devastating. Just because you play a high damage ADC and probably like to go too ham doesn't mean Sona sucks..

I hate no other champ in the game like sona, when she is on the other team she comes out of lane 0-5 or 0-6 when she is on mine it is more like 0-8 I never see good ones and cannot remember the last time i saw one win

Mimy1 votes

Shrugs I dunno. You can have a hatred towards a single champion. that's your problem..

All champions are weaker then others sometimes..

Sona has a higher skillcap than she seems - a lot of people wrongly think she's easy to do well with but she actually requires skill to do well, that's why.

I can agree with that if i see a lot of people suck on the same champ i assume they are high skill like my teams vaynes or lee sins

Certainly not the case for me I have plenty of games like my last ranked game on vayne where i admit okay i just got carried this game and didnt play well, nothing i love better then having a good support like alistar committed to peel or leona getting me ahead. I just don't see sona's role, she sucks at all in's which is most of the supports that are played leona thresh blitz alistar all beat her in all ins and her poke isn't enough to really matter, also i like your reference to bronze/silver but im platinum so not sure that works. Supports should give the other bot lane a reason to not all in against you or a reliable non ult reliant way to all in against them, sona does neither of these things which means if the other team picks an aggro support your lane is lost in champ select. I'd rather have burst mages like annie or brand supporting me because they provide a reason for the enemy lane to not all in you Tldr: I would love and be happy to have a good sona player but i just don't see them. Don't feel that way about any other support. It's dunning-kruger btw dont cugour if you are going to diagnose me with something you saw on a league video get it right.

Ehh.. I don't care.. This is why I like bronze because supports like sona has a small chance against blitz leona or alistar. depending on if they get a little too overcocky seeing it's a sona and make mistakes...

I don;t see why people are soo excited to get to an elo where only a handful of champions are viable for play... how boring..

tons of high elo players main 1 champ that isn't considered viable it is just i want to get to an elo where everyone isn't trash on certain champions like ez and sona.

Understandable.. I'm happy in bronze.. But I wish you luck getting higher. :)

Because it's the easiest poke to land (and with some investment, actually does a fair bit of damage), her heal is ok, but the aoe team shield is pretty amazing, built in AoE movement speed boost (combos devastatingly well with other aoe move speed boosts), and her ult is a nice instant stun.

She thrives in team fights, especially with her near-teamwide utility boosts and amazing peel ult. She can go "AP bruiser" and still deal respectable damage while being hard to immediately burst. if you are frontlining as Sona, you're doing it wrong. Best position is between the front line and backline of your team, where you can hit your whole team with your auras.

Sona dies like instantly in teamfights her base stats are to low and most I see go heavy ap I think if her hp got buffed she might have potential but she is stupidly easy to kill.

Marthian1 votes

Base stats don't mean as much mid-late game. And if they are going heavy AP and die often, they are doing something wrong (even going heavy AP on Sona, you save your ult for someone about to destroy you/your carry. They outrange you? Need to work on dodging abilities. And heavy AP sona's ult still hurts a LOT.)

As I mentioned in my post, build some defensive items and she suddenly becomes a lot less squishy.

nDoro1 votes

Asked about Janna ... got Sona instead.

Marthian1 votes

Someone mentioned Sona being crap when she clearly isn't and was replying to that.

Other than that off topic, I'll just basically echo what mostly everyone else on the topic of Janna: She is the queen of disengage. Tornado knockup, a click slow, captain enchant passive, an offensive/defensive shield, and a large knockback heal ult; She is designed to keep people safe. Why she isn't seen as much in lower elos, it depends on who you ask. Afaik it's because she actually requires a bit of skill to play properly: Notably, her ult can make or break a team fight. Also while she has amazing disengage and pretty good CC, she does have some trouble doing the reverse and engaging on the enemy: She has to be fairly close to set up a kill for her carry, people will be cautious when they see Q charging up, and using her ult to bounce targets requires luck on your part of not dying to get close or flash ulting to bounce targets in separate directions. Thresh, Leona, and other offensive supports generally have better tools to all-in/engage (Leona's E, Thresh's Q/E, etc.)

compared to like a karma? definitly her q does about the damage of an auto which isnt much at all

If you are using her Q only, you are doing it wrong. Q + empowered AA is where it's at. And you'll spend all three charges of Spellthief by doing that.

Marthian1 votes

Karma has to weave around minions with her poke and while her poke does hurt, Sona just has to be within range and click Q to damage you, which is arguably more reliable, so you may end up poking more (damage) with Sona than Karma.

Enosetc1 votes

because disengage will always be powerful and janna is unrivaled in her ability to disengage

Baby Ghoul1 votes

It's because she has strong disengage and a powerful shield for when ADCs trade.

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

Because low elos still manage to not peel for their team with her and then come to the conclusion that she sucks

Lugg1 votes

Janna can erase a mistake that a player or team makes. That is HUGE in high ELO where any misstep can lose you the game. In low ELO, she is just as effective, but most players don't know how to use her properly.

Nimba1 votes

I used to spam Janna when I had to support basically nonstop, but teams (in my elo) typically don't take advantage of what you do as Janna. People pick such terrible fights and disengaging when you know they'll lose typically results in you being flamed.

Better to just pick Soraka and make sure no one ever dies.

nDoro1 votes

So since no one appreciates Janna in the lower ranks, use Soraka so that the support's usefuleness hits them right smack in the face...
