Why does everyone hate SKT?

Every time SKT plays, the crowd seems to be so against SKT (except that one time SKT saved C9 from a sudden death game) even against RNG. Why is that? Or do people in general hate Korea?

We don't hate them, it's just the crowds want a new victor.

Because they've won worlds repeatedly, and people want new people to win?

That's my theory.

Everyone loves an underdog beating the champs.

And they've been champs for a while.

No big deal if the champs win again.

Big deal if an underdog beats the champs.

I wonder if match fixing will ever be a thing in LoL. The stakes are quite high these days. Imagine there is some money to be made in match fixing.

If you have the same people keep winning every year you start to lose interest because no excitement

Weathered10/15/2016, 9:42:40 PM2 votes

No one hates them. People just think it's stale that they never lose.

I don't hate SKT, I just want a new set of skins this year.

Yeah, it's less "hate for SKT" and more "root for the underdogs" because man, what a miracle story would it be for a non-Korean (or even a Korean team, really) to beat SKT1 on the one stage they've never really lost at.

I mean, Season 4 is the only year of their existence they didn't make it TO Worlds but, so far, once they actually get there, they've dominated.

I don't hate them but I would find it stupid to get ANOTHER set of SKT skins. I want Variety in the E-Sports skins not new SKT skins every year.

The general mentality is to root for the underdog when your own favs are not playing

Procella10/29/2017, 9:36:21 AM1 votes

Actually I don't want WE to win either. Because their skins would have the same colour scheme as SKT.

People cheer against SKT because if SKT loses it shows that other teams from other regions can actually win instead SKT which looks to be a 3 Time World champions.

My theory is that all the foreign crowds who view their games are secretly agents from the future, sent back in time to try and stop SKT before they completely destroy the world and/or kill sara connor.

I'd like another team to win A team that never loses is boring, like the Yankees.

Guyy Fieri10/15/2016, 9:36:36 PM1 votes

That's like asking why does everyone hate the Yankees in baseball or the Patriots in football. Any team that is the winningest team in their sport are going to get the from any fans that didn't already support them.

GeminiRune10/15/2016, 9:37:52 PM1 votes

That's kind of an esports thing in general. When a team (or individual player) wins and keeps winning at the big events, it starts to become a desire for change. In SKT's case, it's not only that they could legit 2-peat but also that it's always the Koreans winning. It's similar to Japan nearly overrunning Street Fighter when it matters every EVO

Let's be completely honest here.

Those complaining about SKT and SSG, more generally Korean and to some extend Chinese domination in recent international events just want to see Western teams having same success.

If it was TSM or FNC completely dominating the league scene like SKT and SSG did the past 5 years, would those same people whining and moaning about Asian teams' success be all up in arms like they are now?

I don't think so.

EU LCS losing much viewers the past few years proves just that, they don't care for the league itself but only their regions success.

Sorry guys, but as a LCK fan I'm going to continue to enjoy my regions success and I couldn't careless about other leagues.

Because I know and you know the "gap" is closing and those that lost interest or are on the fence will be back when LCK domination ends.

Until then, at least be honest and say it like it is: I want my region to be like LCK.

yep... nobody wants to see another Korean Champion but it will be one of the 3 anyway.
