A simple idea to fight a big problem

I was thinking about the whole situation about supports/autofill and stuff like that and one thing occurred to me. People disliking the role usually complain about few things - they don't feel useful, they are bored, they can't farm, they can't take kills etc... We have a huge shortage of support players and the whole community suffers because of it (autofill, long queue times, ...)

Isn't there a simple solution to that? I think there's one already existing item to help us here: item 3302 . This allows supports to take cs, but share it with the nearest ally champion. Why not just expand on this idea and let supports to take kills and cs, without crippling the rest of their team? If there's an ally nearby, there would be a very similar effect as with the relic shield. The support wouldn't need to hold back and worry about taking the kill/cs. Make a connection between a support and a nearby champion (doesn't necessarily mean it has to be an ADC).

Of course this would need some tweaks, but I think it's a perfectly viable solution. If you could take kills as a support, I believe many people would start playing the role and that would eventually lead to removing the autofill.

What do you think? Any idea on how to make this work?

they don't feel useful

then they're doing it wrong

they are bored

again, doing it wrong.

they can't farm

Use not having to farm to your advantage. Not having to focus on CSing leaves you open to focus on vision, setting up plays, etc. and they should still farm any cs that no one else would get.

they can't take kills

Sure they can.
