New Ban Idea:
Well, the champion pool grows and the bans are so far capped at 5. Something needs to change, and regardless what solution you support, I think everyone agrees that _something _needs to change, and more bans need to be implemented somehow. The question is, how can this be done _without _making the pick/ban phase even longer?
How about this: Everyone gets their individual ban, just as it's been working until now. But in addition to your primary ban, you also select a secondary ban: E.g. Instead of selecting a character and clicking the BAN button, you use the left mouse button to select your primary ban, and your right mouse button to select the secondary ban of your choice. The borders of the selected champions reflect that (e.g. red for primary ban, yellow for secondary ban). You have time until the timer runs out to change your selection(s). No more need to actually hit a BAN button. Just select (up to) 2 bans of your choice, and wait until the timer runs out.
Then we can choose what to do with these bans. To mind comes the following:
-
everyone's primary ban gets banned for sure. Secondary ban works the same way as champion select in "One For All": the champion per team with the highest pick rate gets banned (requires the team to communicate in the chat), or if no champion has a majority percentage, one gets selected randomly.
-
if we feel that 6 champions per team (12 total) are still not enough to ban, this can be extended to the 2 champions with the highest secondary pick get banned, or 2 random champions from the secondary pool.
-
some people say everyone should have 2 bans, and with this ban strategy, this could be done too. But I personally think 12 bans per team (24 bans per game) is too much, even if some banned champs will overlap among the two teams. But certainly possible, say once our champion pool reaches 200+, might be applicable then.
