My thoughts on Fiddlesticks changes...

I would like to start with asking you not to down vote this because you hate Fiddlesticks, because that is just selfish, and people the internet is nice ^^

Fiddlesticks has been undertaking a streak of nurfs since season 4, both direct, and indirect nurfs. before this patch, the direct nurfs were reducing the tethering range of his W, and removing the silence on his E when hitting the same target. The indirect nurfs were nurfing zhoynais (Both by increasing price and decreasing AP), and replacing the old item 1402 (which offered 20% CD, and 80 AP) with the new one which stacks on moving and casting (Fiddlesticks cant move when clearing a comp and only casts 3 to 5 abilities per camp). The only indirect buff was the new item 1402 which was also nurfed recently (thanks Udyr!).

Here I will list the buffs and nurfs direct and indirect that hit Fiddlesticks , and why I think it is an overall nurf:

Direct:

1- Changing his passive:

NURFs: by taking away the magic resist reduction without increasing his base damage, you removed a lot of Fiddlesticks damage, and camp clearing. Also, his new passive is already available through the masteries, which I think is the only viable mastery for Fiddlesticks since he doesn't build AP (which brings us back to same point of removing his magic reduction). In addition, removing his passive was also a nurf to Fiddlesticks 's team as well, since it is a magic resist reduction status and not penetration (meaning your team also used to benefit from).

BUFF: his passive is nice for jungle clear and ganks though.

2- His Q

NURF: it doesn't need to be explained, you will get closer to people who will kill you.

3- His W:

Buff in early game, and a huge nurf for mid and late game.... in early game, you clear faster, but you are not able solo tank drake and other epic monsters as early as before, (which was one of the strongest points about Fiddlesticks ).

Another Nurf: his passive is also a nurf to his damage, AS WELL AS, his healing ! since his healing is a percentage of his damage.

4- His E

BUFF: I would say that it is the best thing about the whole change, and compensates for his lower jungle clear capability caused by his passive change.

HOWEVER! it does not help a lot in team fights and lanes because it is the almost the same damage (given how hard it is to focus a target and the passive change), and even if you want to drain a target in order to focus it, you will either need to have minions around, or other enemy champs, which are hard to pull off and risky, respectively.

5- His Ulti:

NURF (or shall I say: The ultimate nurf!): The passive change has particularly awful nurfs on his R, first, his ulti will deal less damage. Second, no longer amplifies team magic damage on the enemy. Third, in a team fight, the old passive is much more important than the new one since you are going to ulti and zhonya there for like 2.5 seconds, after which, you can run away a bit faster, yay...

Why his new passive is irrelivant to his ult: some might argue that the passive change will help him position himself in non-team fight situations to get fleeing enemies, but the benifit is minimal because of removing the boot enchant item 1313 ) which I usually buy to get up summoner 4 more often and better position myself after the utli. Moreover, the only viable key mastery point on Fiddlesticks is stromraiders. Given his low AP stack and that he doesn't cast much spells or even AA, thunderstorm and DFT were bad on Fiddlesticks , but we have to pick one now.

Also, the change of casting at maximum range if cast out of range means more chance to miss use your ulti.

In addition, the CDR increase on item 3157 is a strong nurf to Fiddlesticks .

BUFF: Hexteck belt is a really nice item if you are ahead.

6- General Buffs (might even apply to other mages as well):

item 3065 and item 3102 nurfed

item 3157 now has CDR.

Seemed odd to me that Fiddle is one of the games oldest champions and they haven't reworked him yet. They clearly have no idea what they're doing with him or what direction they want to take him in. As soon as the changes hit PBE i made 3-4 posts about why they were nerfs and why they were nerfing a champion that preforms so poorly in this meta. The changes solve none of his weak points and just feel like small QoL changes along with random nerfs.

I'll probably play him support since the new passive and E buff make his lane cheese even cheasier. he cant compete in the jungle, he's too easy to invade, way too buff relient, can't duel worth a damn, these changes solved none of that.
