That's kinda the point, they're suppose to be trump cards for when the game goes late.
If your not finishing the game before then, you're screwing up.
Bad idea. Support like thresh are supposed to die for their adc, making him weaker upon death would put him even more useless than what he is now compared to enchanters support.
well 
needs his stacks to be relevant in later in the game same goes with 
thresh needs his stacks as well for his armor because as of right now he has one of the lowest base armor in the game I'm pretty sure.
