A Possible Pyke Balancing

Silly Neeko··1 votes·1,199 views

Pyke, as everyone knows, can be a scourge to the game even after being shut down hard. He is mobile, deals tons of damage, and actually freely regenerates his health back worse than a Garen half the time.

Pyke was meant to be a damaging, assassin support. He does need the health regen to stay alive however.... BUT what if the health regenerating was based on bonus Health rather than bonus AD? Of a lesser ratio possibly.

This will not be a completely heavy pike to the gut for pyke, due to bonus hp giving him bonus AD, but it would have to make him choose.... more sustain with less damage.... or more damage with less sustain. It will make his build paths a bit more situational, and make him unable to just reset his Health bar right after a 1v1 with the enemy ADC.

What is everyone elses thoughts about this?

Pyke's health-to-AD conversion is close to 100% gold efficient. All this would do is discourage Pyke from building actual AD items and lock him into building only HP items for AD.

The current PBE changes that make his maximum gray health percentage scale with AD as well will help curb this. If Pyke is behind, he won't be able to regenerate nearly as much HP as he could before.

However, there wouldnt be the Stormrazer passive, Duskblade passive, etc. All that added extra damage. If they want that still, it will lessen up on his near near full health regen.

Though i am curious as to what you are meaning by the newgrey health scaling stuff. He has it already so i dont know what is new with it that they are playing around with atm.

Pyke currently stores a percentage of the damage he takes as gray health. That percentage is based on AD, so the more AD he builds, the more gray health he gets.

Additionally, the maximum amount of gray health he can store is a percentage of his max health that scales with level. What they're changing is having that maximum amount depend on AD, and the amount he can store initially is much lower (from 25% of his maximum at level 1 -> 80 HP + 8% bAD). Before this change, a Pyke at level 1 could store up to 150 health as gray health. After this change, he will be able to store ~82, depending on his stat shards and starting items.

They're also making all of his abilities except Harpoon scale with Lethality, and his W and E won't have their effects scale with rank. He can't just sit in lane and get stronger. He will need gold, which means if he's behind, his abilities won't scale up as the game progresses.

Hmm... i think i need a visual to be sure i know what you are talking about with the new grey health stuff... but i guess i am confused as to what is actually different from that and what we have now besides that you are saying it is lower. From what i understood, his grey health was already based on bonus AD with a portion potentially from level. So did they lower the amounts or something?

Also, does that mean his W is going to have its move speed a set amount with just lower cd and longer time based on level? Probably an increased amount at start leveling out eventually and then being a bit lower than current max rank. His E will only have damage and CD affected and have a set stun time?

Ah, I had it messed up, sorry. They just changed how it scales.

Right now, the maximum amount of gray health Pyke can store is 25%-50% of his maximum HP, and this percentage scales with AD. The new version will scale directly. Instead of 25-50%, he can store a maximum of 80 + 8% of his bonus AD.

Basically, Pyke will be able to store much, much less gray health that he could before until he builds a lot of AD.

His W and E won't have set amounts, they will now scale with Lethality. Lethality will increase his movement speed with W and the stun duration with E. Ranking up those abilities will only decrease the cooldown (for W) and increase the damage (for E).

Hmm. Potential seems to be there, because thats only like what.... a couple hundred hp gain backs? But that could potentially be too much of a drop. I guess ill have to check it out when it is available.

how does he deals "tons of damage" exactly?

Silly Neeko1 votes

By doing a few thousand damage in a short bit of time.

He can literally 1v1 nearly any enemy ADC, most mid laners, most any non tank top laners and jungles, and any support who catches out.

While being more of a metaphorical commentary rather than literal, he actually can easily do about 2000 damage in a few seconds, which after being hooked has near no counterplay for anyone who is immobile, and requires skillful timing for those that have some mobility.

The 2000 damage can easily go into the 4000 range + depending on how many are hit by his E and Ulti, which the ulti could potentially be used up to 5 times on the last enemy champion, 4 on the one previous, 3 to previous to that, 2 to the orevious one to that, and 1 to the beginning one. This means that the base damage from the ulti could be used up to 10 times, with execution up to 4 or 5 times. For a total of 15x the base damage of his ulti. Thus becoming plural tons of damage.

Careful what you wish for.

you're hoverhyping it he does no damage, only way he has to do it is ult reset of course if you build him full lethality (wrong btw) with electrocute, then yeah, but that is for every champ

Silly Neeko1 votes

Over hyping? Nah. This is with aftershock semi tanky pyke that they can 1v1 the enemy adc and kill them then continue on. With only about 2 damage items he can do this.

I am saying what he is capable of. Not what he does literally every game.... thus "CAN be" also includes if the person is good.

Braum also is not able to do tons of damage ever. He can kill, but not in just a few seconds with near no counterplay or survival.

So no, not every champion can do that. Since you are so keen on attempting to be literal.

he can kill the adc if he outplay him over and over with hooks stun and whatever, he has no way do deal burst of damage like an assassin, so that can be true yes, as can be true with a rakan, a leona, or every other tanky /catcher supp

Q, E, a couple autos, R. This is enough burst damage with ignite to kill an ADC after about 2 items. Possibly another Q thrown in there but generally it doesnt even take that much.

seems fair to me
