The most recent basic champ was actually from last year.

For starters, league champs are becoming complicated with passives, seconds passives, passives in abilities, it is just complicated. Newbie players (like me last year) could not understand the grasp of some of the characters. First champion I picked was kha'zix which had... a lot... of info in his kit, and I do not feel like typing it. They been making more champions with very complex passives and kits like kayn with two alternate forms depending on the champion you hit, evelynn having a lot to do with demon shade, and jhin having a lot of stuff in general. However there was one champ last year that was so basic and fun that people have no idea, which is Ornn .

Now before you say anything, Ornn may have two passives (sort of) but they are very easy to grasp

  1. He can shop anywhere
  2. He has a status effect that makes stuns longer That's literally all it is, now for abilities: q: This ability is basic, you make a shock wave skillshot that slows and makes a rock at the end. Players who see that rock know that its something they can't magically phase through (unless if they are kayn) so its pretty standard. w: This ability gives ornn a shield, he does a fire breath attack in front of him, and leaves the opponents crisp so the next attack ornn does to them knocks them up. This is the only complex ability he has and its easy to grasp, the only things people SHOULD take note is the knockup auto bonus. e: Self explanatory, he charges forward, even though he does a knockup area if he hits walls, and the fact doesn't really change to newbie players if they charge into a enemy made wall (anivia w) because it will still do the knockup. ult: He makes a ram come toward him, he can knock it forward if he recasts it just right but knocks up. This ult is hard to master but easy to understand, the only thing people should try to get right is recasting it at the right time (I suck at that) and they will do fine.

Out of all that he is still pretty basic, not too much into abilities, but just enough to deal with champs like darius, riven, and so on. Even through all that he is fun from my experiences, instead of just rushing in one shotting everyone, you attack how you please, how you need to, when you want, and you can still kill the opponent with stuns.

I think Ornn is actually the most interesting tank in the game. But it's not his abilities alone that give his kit depth, it's how they interact together, along with other things. He's much less bland than the other tanks and he has a lot of outplay potential.
