Why does Riot hate Urgot?

Ever since the rework came out of Urgot he has slowly lost items/runes he can actually use.Besides not being able to build ap/crit/attack speed/on hit items, he also lost steracks, mallet and now the new keystone on the pbe. I'm not saying he should get the same treatment as melee but what I am saying is he should get some middle ground that most range champs don't get. For example grasp gets 75% of the effect on champs with less than 500 range instead of 60% for all range champs. At the end of the day it feels like Urgot always gets the short end of the stick.

Ranged top laners tend to be balance issues.

also, the fromal nerf wasn't targeted at him, but another ranged top laner who's a balance issue

Literally every time I played against an Urgot since the buffs he beats me with item 3047 first item by ignoring all my attempts of poking / all in.. Like I can play passive and try to ignore me but then he buys item 3047 and item 3071 and just dives me.. I dont get how much more the champ needs in ur opinion lol.

Before the rework, he could fully utilize Death's dance with his Q's and get Manamune if you didn't get mana runes. I wish Riot made his rework into a new champion, it was so fun playing him with an assassin build mid lane.

Because he's a design aberration. I don't mean that in the sense of being unbalanced / broken, but I mean he's a bizarre design choice.

Bruisers are exclusively melee, or at least have a history of being such. New Urgot is inarguable a bruiser, more specifically a juggernaut. Urgot's auto range is so short as to make it impossible for any melee to not engage on him at the drop of a hat, and he's heavily encouraged to get right in people's faces and stick as close as human(ish)ly possible. His ranged auto attack is mostly just window dressing / a nod to his former design as being ranged, rather than a balance decision right now.

The problem with that is that, despite having a kit which is absolutely a bruiser.. His auto attack being flagged as 'ranged' locks him out of stuff bruisers want. He won't have good access to Conquerer, he can't touch the Hydras, and he's continually losing items in the melee-vs-ranged arms race.

Basically, Urgot suffers from being too ambitious / creative, and paying a price which he doesn't deserve to suffer.
