New Option Requested: Voice Chat in Game

We got this team oriented game here, and no efficient way to communicate.

Y not enable voice chat in game?

Reasons:

  1. Lots of other games do it (the technology is there xD)
  2. It's TEAM oriented...gaahl
  3. on/off switch and blocking mechanisms can still block troll ppl from screaming helplessly into mic
  4. It would help those in solo ARAM and SoloQ classic/ranked

I mean, I was just in an ARAM game, and it was hard to coordinate ults exactly at the right moment (I was VI trying to get ORI to ult from my ult). Needless to say, typing it all out was a pain in the ass lol.

So whaddya say Rito, wanna add this super cool new awesome team assisting oriented feature? :)

I can't wait for the new levels of toxicity this could bring. Probably the only reason it's not yet implemented.

They said Voice Chat would not be implemented because when they did a survey it was something like 28% of players voted against VC as feature. Granted yes that's not a majority but 28% of players is essentialy 1/4 of the community, that's a lot of people. Personally I'm okay with this, i hate VC, i hate this communities toxicity.

This was discussed absolutely to death on the old forums. Problems to think about:

  1. How do you deal with toxic voice chat? Can't use Tribunal.
  2. Voice chat becoming standard exposes women, kids, people with accents to additional negative behavior.
  3. Puts players without a mic, or in places where voice chat isn't practical, at a competitive disadvantage.

Riot have said that they are not going to implement this because of the potential verbal abuse it would bring. We all know how toxic LoL players are, especially at lower ELO. It's not going to happen. Although, Curse Voice does exactly this though, but not everyone has it.

for me personally i would be less toxic over voice, and communication/guiding newer/less skilled players would be easier, yeah getting an asshole on your team would suck, but oh well, mute them and report, Riot is not going to tell anyone honestly that they don't have the resources to record the voice from every game and analyze it if necessary
