Championship Players / tournaments have different placement rules?

I was 5/10 for placements and haven't played for a couple seasons. So why did I not start as like Silver V or something instead of the most toxic and inescapable solo queue rank of Bronze V? Because previous seasons ranks count towards further seasons?

Now ponder this logic than -

Rhetorical question: In official championship tournaments are players ratings from previous seasons tournaments being counted in their placement in conjunction with their W/L or are matches decided based on Wins vs Losses alone? They go by Win/Loss only. Which seems reasonable. Yet, wouldn't the most fair thing to do be to apply the same placement calculation that is used on all the other Non-championship series players (i.e. us) to the championship games?

For example: Season 1 Team Fnatic wins 1st place then in Season 3 they tie for 3rd place with Team NaJin Black Sword.

Well since the system that applies to us little people would dictate that based on our previous seasons performances, even tho we beat (x#) of teams, we had done poorly in previous seasons so our 5/10 wins don't have the same value as someone who performed better in previous seasons whom also may get 5/10 wins and be placed in a higher bracket. Which is counter intuitive to the nature of good sportsmanship. For example in the sport of golf. Where the better player starts with a handicap. But in LoL it is the opposite where the worse player starts with even more of a handicap.

Ergo, Team Najin Black Sword had not performed as well as Fnatic in previous seasons so they should not have tied for 3rd place in Season 3. And in fact based on Fnatics Season 1 1st place victory, Fnatic should have been able to invoke their "elo" rating to "place" them in a higher bracket breaking the tie.
