Poppy Support?

At the risk of getting a lot of down votes and hate..

I personally feel like the Poppy Rework has missed the mark in terms of identity, don't get me wrong though.. it LOOKS incredible, the splash, the in game model.. I mean dayum Poppy could probably be classed as sexy now (didn't think I would ever say that about Poppy @.@).

However.. I'm not sure what everyone else thinks when they see that armored up bad ass looking Yordle with a HUGE hammer... but I see Tanky/Juggernaut/Bruiser that you do have to be careful of or she will pummel your brains in... And from what I can tell so far, this just doesn't seem to be the case, she seems veeery suited to bot lane support to be more honest?

  • Low(ish) Damage.
  • Not overly good engage (unless you get someone into a wall with E other wise you just push them away from your team).
  • Very Tanky.
  • A MOTHER-LOAD of peel potential (W stops dashes, E pushes them away from carry, ult sends them to China aaand a passive which provides some in lane poke which can also proc targons).

Are these not all the traits that you would want in a support? and not so much in a top laner?

It may be to early to assume all of this from just having watched a few you tube vids and looking at her numbers, but I suppose if she does become a bot lane support I can live with it.. Just might have been cooler to smash some skulls with that Hammer?

Either way its still a damn cool rework with some new and unique yet simple new ideas/abilities in her kit. What does everyone else think?

No hate please.... it just my thoughts :)

I've been playing her on the PBE and I have to say she still shines in the top lane and does well in the jungle.

The trick here is to utilize her E's wall stun so you can get off the full damage of her Q.

Poppy support can work but you'll have to sacrifice damage for tankyness, and though having a tank is good you'll really have to master utilizing her E, W and Ult because you won't get much out of her Q

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here as well.

The new Poppy has a very burst heavy combo. Landing an E on a wall guarantees the max damage on her Q, which is nice. Throwing your W up after landing an E will prevent those with dashes from trying to run when the stun is over.

I like to add Titanic Hydra and Dead mans onto her, both of which empower her auto attacks, so toss that in with her E-Q burst and she actually does a bit of damage.

This is the build I find works best for her.

item 3748 item 3071 item 3053 item 3742 item 3065 item 3047 or item 3111

item 3748 item 3071 are your main damage items, plus the HP gives you an extra bit of tankyness. Black cleaver allows you to chase as well.

item 3053 add's pretty good survivablity in a team fight and a great burst of power in the mid game.

item 3742 is great, armor, HP, chase down and the passive on the item procs with her passive.

item 3065 I find is better then item 3102 because Poppy really benefits from the CD it offers.

item 3047 for AD heavy teams, item 3111 for AP heavy. though eve if they are AD heavy but have a lot of CC item 3111 is the obvious choice.

Thats what I have been building on her so far and its been working out pretty well.

Yes, the active on Titanic procs with her her auto. Which really makes it a great item on her.

Steraks might seem like a strange item and there may be a better item for it, but I do like the HP it gives you as well as the shield. With it I was able to achieve around 350 base AD, on top that I had over 4k hp and the bonus armor and MR from the W passive made me even more tanky.

i was basically a tank with a lot of power behind me.

Yes this does work well. Imo poppy is a support-top who gets real tanky while still being a big threat.

Personally, I spam her abilities a lot so I get ibg first then get tanky, she doesn't NEED more than that to be a big threat. Think steraks would be good though, more Ad that scales with ibg, and hp that scales well with both passives.

Play poppy support if you want your ADC to hate you or you're in Wood ELO and the enemy team will actually feed you for no reason.
