Ahri help/advice please

So I've heard tons of people say how OP she is, and she seems like a fun champ, so i decided to get her. I've played a few games -- and I have to say, I'm really struggling with her. I usually play an aggressive mage support -- either Zyra, or Lux, or even Janna.

For some reason, csing with Ahri just seems off...I can't seem to get the timing right... And my damage seems mediocre -- I've looked up what build/runes to use, and am following them exactly.

But as I said before, csing seems rough, her attack speed seems slower when just hitting minions with an auto attack, than I'm used to? I'm not sure if that's a thing or what.

I'm also confused about her skills - I read her Q is supposed to return health....doesn't seem to be returning much. Her skills don't seem to do much damage to enemy champs. And I'm getting annihilated mid lane by champs like Leblanc, Zed, Talon & Akali.

I'm honestly stumped here. Does anyone have any advice? Is there something I'm doing blatantly wrong?

  1. The Q doesn't restore health unless you've built up 9 stacks of it... you can build up 3 stacks per use, 1 stack every time it hits an enemy (it can do 2 if it hits them on the way back too)
  2. Focus on upgrading the Q, it's amazing for lane pushing, and can oneshot the caster minions after a while.
  3. Zed is a really hard matchup, and Akali and Leblanc are just kinda busted imho. Not sure what to say there.
  4. Save your cooldowns if you're about to use your E. This is a really powerful ability if you land it, and you can just unload on somebody once you do.
  5. Use your R for 3 reasons: engage on slippery enemies who are weaker than you, chase down someone with low health, or escape back to safety. You have 3 charges, so sometimes you can accomplish multiple goals. I.E you can go in with R, E Q W, then R out once you get the kill. Sometimes I towerdive really squishy champions like Soraka with this.
  6. CSing is just something you have to learn, but once you get midgame just spam your Q into a group of damaged minions, and you'll rack up the kills.
  7. If someone tries to towerdive you, hit your E and they're dead.
  8. Only use your W once you've charmed someone. Otherwise, you're just wasting mana.
  9. Q is a huge poking tool. Keep in mind it can go through minions, so you can hit anyone who gets near you through the minion wave.

  1. Save your cooldowns if you're about to use your E. This is a really powerful ability if you land it, and you can just unload on somebody once you do.

You don't always need to land the charm first (especially when target isn't full hp or is under level), some people will try their hardest to juke the charm till after it goes on cooldown, so instead use the Q first.

It doesn't matter much if they dodge the first part of Q cause you will still hit them with the Q return thanks to using the ult to change it's direction.

  1. Only use your W once you've charmed someone. Otherwise, you're just wasting mana.

It's only 40 mana and with a simple auto attack it's going to 100% hit the champion you just auto attacked, meanwhile Q can be dodged. Also since it's going to hit the champion 3 times your passive will proc (only need 2 hits but still 100% hit chance) giving you movespeed on demand after auto attacking. W is easy harass for very early laning phase and is good for running away since it auto targets and has no cast time unlike Ahri's Q and E.

And that's because she isn't OP or something , it's called circle jerking because they hate Ahri mains She is a balanced champion , that's all

and not only you struggle on csing with her , generally csing with her is hard in early , her wave clear in early makes her lose of a lot of cs in early and you really need to be experienced to not to miss cs on her , but at level 9 with some ap items , her Q can kill caster minions , to clear a wave , auto attack the each melee minions twice then Q to get the whole wave and w to clean the rest

Her Q Heal passive , you really shouldn't rely on it much in early before your first recall , Ahri is the number 1 Mid Laner " with Fizz " she runs out of mana very fast , so you have to be careful while using your mana , after your first recall , you can use Heal passive from time to time " it also drains mana to get the stacks , when your Q orb turns green , it means the Heal passive is ready , send your Q to a whole minion wave and if possible hit an enemy with it to get the highest amount of heals you can get

While she is a good pick in this meta to not to feed , she is still no way near of being strong as the picks you mentioned , so you will have to suffer it sadly

Ahri isa burst mage " not an assassin " she can't 100-0 anyone in early ,at level 6 , you need to abuse the free damage in the game ,at level 6 you need at least item 1056 item 1026 to do this , engage with Ult and hit your charm and full kit and ignite with basic attacks , ignite is 20% of the enemy's HP and Electrocute is 10% HP with a lot of basic attacks , and maybe a second q or w to kill them

Against champions that got shields in their kit like Lux or Ori , you need to poke them down before going in , and against champions that took Barrier , you also have to poke them down , and again Orianna and Lux who took barrier? you have to poke them till they are 60 or 70% HP then go in , make sure yo land your charm , without it you can't do much

and remember as Electrocute Ahri ,you can make a good poke in lane , it's pretty risky sometimes but it does good damage , 2 basic attacks and Q to apply electrocute , you can use W instead of a second basic attack but honestly it's a waste of mana , and preferable not to use W that much unless the target is charmed because in her latest rework , after hitting charm , Enemies take extra 20% damage from all her abilities
