Srsly. Morde isn't even in that bad of a spot right now. Try facing Morde as a melee champ and tell me how much lube you needed to stop the bleeding.

the only question i want to ask is
how do you balance a champion who gets additional benefits from a neutral objective that makes his entire team stronger
either they make it obsolete or they make morde a feast or famine champion who dominates games if he is lucky enough to get a drag early

morde was in a terrible spot because og his design. what are you even talking about?
he was in the same palce as poppy. he gets so ridiculously strong lategame, thta they had to completely neuter his early game to the point where he doesnt have any hope of ever getting to his strong phase.
something had to be done. and thematically he makes more sense as a heavily melee focused bruiser than a poke mage.
