After steraks, should Titanic Hydra be looked at?

On release, titanic was supposed to work best on juggernauts because of her passive scaling off bonus health. But right now it's mainly used by divers, brusiers who can use the extra health but aren't supposed to get as tanky as juggernauts. I'm quite ok with it, since divers like irelia, renekton, warwick can use the passive and the active effects better than juggs like garen, illaoi and darius. But then maybe the item should be somewhat repurposed for those champions, champions who are supposed to stack less health (thus profiting not as much from titanic, on paper) but benefit more from AD and/or AS. Unless the item works perfectly on divers as it is, but I'm having the impression that it makes them a bit too tanky for their purpose.

I don't really think Titanic needs looked at, it is in a decent spot and has a good niche. That said the niche it was supposed to fill could use a little bit of attention.

I think juggernauts are fine with just BC and Sterak, they don't really need titanic. Divers (irelia, xin, ww, rek'sai, renekton, and so on) use it pretty well, and that's ok. But an item whose dmg scales with health is kinda weird on them, maybe there could be one that better fits divers.

I don't think the item was really ment for Juggernauts. Just like the other Hydra it works the best on champions with increased AS or AA resets, but juggernauts often rely much more on their abilities damage then their AA's (Darius is properly the only juggernaut that could make it work a bit).

They could just make a new item aimed at juggernauts, if they want to give them more aggressive options outside of black cleaver and the buffed Steraks. Maybe something that adds extra damage to your next AA after using an ability that scales with your bonus health or something, so melee fighters like Riven/Fiora cannot abuse it.

IIRC, when it was first released titanic was meant to be a juggernaut item. Not 100% for them only, but it was best suited to them. That said, between BC and steraks, juggernauts don't really need a third damage item anyway, since they usually want to go full tank after those 2 items. But at this point we're left with an item that works perfectly on divers. Champions that benefit from AS and on-hit effects more than juggernauts, but not as much from health and health scalings. I mean, I'm ok with irelia or warwick or renekton buying a version of hydra that gives them some tankiness, but isn't an %health scaling passive weird on them? I could see it on darius, illaoi, garen and yorick, but not really on irelia, warwick, camille and so on.

I mean, for the niche it is currently fitting (which isn't the one it was meant to fill but nvm) it's maybe giving a bit too much health, bit too little AD, and a weird passive.

I don't think it's really weird on them, as most other items divers get give health as well, like black cleaver, trinity force, Steraks or deadman's plate. It's pretty normal for a diver to sit on 3k+ health (especially renekton with his ult).

But you might be right that the item feels a bit weird. I think Ravenous hydra was more meant for divers, and titanic for bruisers/juggernauts, but as divers often want burst above continues damage and the titanic one active is just stronger, they pick that one.

just like steraks gage, it was literally advertised as a juggernaut item when it was introduced with the juggernaut update.

id say some juggs use it rather well.

Yorick DrMundo Volibear Olaf come to mind.

but op is right, thats its kindof weird how its still picked up more often on dive fighters and even some skirmishers overall.

Ravenous hydra might just be to weak then, as that's supposed to be the item for skirmishers and divers.

And honestly it might look like no juggernauts buy it, as you just don't see any juggernaut being played at all.

Yes, that's my point. Also, especially after last patch, I think juggernauts have even less reason to buy titanic. Regarding the champions you mentioned:

  • Yorick doesn't really need it, since the aoe can mess with his need to spawn graves. And it terms of raw stats, steraks after last patch is way better than titanic, and costs less.
  • Mundo at best can use the active of titanic to add some damage to his E, but even then it might just be safer to go full damage with him.
  • Volibear is kinda the same as Mundo, but with a far lower win rate. He just needs a new kit.
  • Olaf IDK, maybe he can actually use titanic. Then again, this year he's been listed as a diver by Rito, a thing that reinforces my argument right now :P
