Ideas on fixing Cho'Gath and Stoneplate

Having seen a lot of discussion about Cho'Gath's interaction with Stoneplate and one-shotting carries I decided to come up with some ideas. I wanted to focus on changes to Cho since Stoneplate seems fine on everyone else. I figure one of these is a good enough change.

  1. Cho'Gath's Feast no longer deals True damage. I'm thinking it should deal physical damage. This would then cause Feast's damage to be lowered by Stoneplate.
  2. The health scaling on Feast is removed. Plain and simple just remove the scaling. He now doesn't have enormous damage on his ult anymore because he popped Stoneplate.

Thoughts? Personally I'm think removing the health scaling would be the best option.

@thread No. Nerfing the champion for interacting with the item IS NEVER A GOOD CHOICE.

SOmeone else already made a fanstastic thread about how to change the item so that it functions as intended without nerfing it OR the champions that use it.

Make stoneplate give BASE HP and not bonus.

Stoneplate is meant to lower damage output. Merely apply this to Cho'Gath's R (Feast) and you will be leagues ahead. Stoneplate does not give innate armor and is therefore no longer conducive to Cho'gath's damage builds with this simple change.

Why doesn't this take place? Is there a reason? or does the Stoneplate debuff not debuff enough damage from Cho? (you would take 1000 true down to 400 which is a far cry and barely an adc crit nowadays)

Riot broke their own rule with this (save has a few others)

Tanks should not have % hps damage. They should not do crap tons of damage at all.

The simplest solution is to lower the HP scaling on Feast (so scaling of .1 -> .08 or so) and then make stoneplate's HP doubling grant the doubled base HP as base HP. These together would cut about 3-400 damage off of late game Cho ult and reduce the ult damage from 1-shot to just a lot. With lifesteal and peel this should largely prevent Cho from instagibbing anyone healthy, although with any amount of team support he'll still be able to be a significant threat with ult. The rest of his kit is fine, maybe lower per-stack scaling on e, but otherwise that's just a matter of fine tuning. If cutting the ult scaling doesn't help then Riot could replace the HP scaling on feast with per-stack scaling instead, but that seems like overkill.
