Here is a "sort-of" QoL suggestion to end all the controversy around Thresh and Relic's Shield

We all know the nature of Thresh's kusarigama and the animation from close range versus long range creates confusion of clarity on whether he is melee or ranged.

So here is a suggestion to end the confusion.

If Thresh auto attacks something within what is typically melee range (125-225, I honestly am not picky about the actual number), it counts as a melee basic attack.

It's more of a quality of life/clarity thing because to make the most of that sort of thing, you have to BE in melee range to consistently use that for something like some weird Titanic or Ravenous Hydra build.

I'm open to criticism and discussion of this, as it is just a suggestion. Discussion should be strictly on this suggestion and the merits of such.

If it were to make Thresh more powerful as an early-game laning support champ for example, such as being able to more reliably execute minions with Relic's Shield as suggested, then that could be addressed with an appropriate and equivalent nerf to his early-game power, maybe reducing his base attack damage so he is less effective in range harassment of his foes in lane.

Talk like that is what I hope to see.

And then we open the can of worms "well if Sona is that close to a creep, she also deserves the last hit bonus from Relic Shield"

Besides, that's a straight up buff, and almost everyone can agree Thresh doesn't need buffs.

Or, OR...

You can learn to last-hit like a normal player does.

That just seems more confusing to me, why not change it to always be a melee attack then? It'll just be a melee attack with more range then other champions. It'll still be weird though, but no matter what you do to his basic attacks they will always feel weird unless you bring them in line with everyone else.

You just have to accept that he is a special little snowflake.

There's controversy about his auto attack?

People don't know how to read tooltips properly and can't understand why his basic attack doesn't proc the execute on Relic Shield.

It pops up in the "Report a Bug" section at least once a week.

I know what he is talking about. Isn't that referred to as either confusion or ignorance? Making Annie wear something like Leblanc would cause controversy.

Alternatively, people can learn how to read tooltips properly.

I think that would be better in the long run than altering the game to suit their misconceptions.
