Any other excuse than dodge his Q

any champion with a dash (even a short one for that matter like riven) can avoid a cast from his q if they aren't too greedy, the main thing that REALLY gets aatrox on the upper hand is if he lands his 2nd or 3rd cast sweet spots. Most of the time, doesn't matter if you get hit by the ability just stay AWAY from the sweetspots as much as possible, take note of every cast he makes.

Just play Kayle/Kennen. Mini Hitbox/MS boost, I played the matchup several times and always took a break from league afterwards.

Walk out of W to the side? Dodge Q knockup? Don't die when he's in R? Build GW?

Dodge his Q and walk out of his W. You can basically see the counterplay. If you can't do it, learn to sidestep or pick a champ with a dash.
