Simple account features like a username change shouldn't be locked behind a $10 paywall. Riot already gets their money from skins so there's no reason changing your summoner name should be so costly. A system that only allows a certain amount of name changes or that tracks previous names would be much better than ripping off everyone who wants a name change.

EvilUnicornLord1 votesRiot reworked runes to be free because having people pay for an in-game advantage (you could get them with IP, I know) is a great way to make a game pay-to-win and those are the worst.
And, yes, name changes being free is more of a convenience, but Riot's main source of cash certainly isn't coming from there so why is it still $10?

Battle.net does that. Steam keeps track of all previous names you've used. Even Minecraft gives you only one name change a month. All of those systems are better than "Pay 1300 RP (the cost of Arcade Ahri or God Staff Jax) or 13,900 BE (considering how you can earn anywhere from 40-200 BE a match, that's insane) to change your Summoner Name.
TheShinx1 votesSomething I see a lot of in the thread is that the cost of RP is the issue. 13.9k BE is nothing in comparison to the amount you will spend over your days playing league buying champs.
However I would say 13.9k is a tad high and could be lowered. Maybe the cost of a New champ. 7900 BE. and have it stay at 975 RP. This way it's still locked from those trying to be trolls and change names every once in a while, all while making it easier on the Vitrual Balance. Regardless it's buisness, giving something for free is bad for it. If a grocery store gave everyone a free pizza every time they shopped there, they would lose a lot of money regardless of how much people buy.
