I thought it was an execute. Not a "let me one shot you" button.

Executes deal a lot of damage. Hence they are executes.

Not to mention low hp
If you're the villain it will do true damage. Still, it's a lot of damage. Not impossible, but surprising. What champion were you playing and what was your build?
