Zigg's W Cooldown is 26 Seconds

Meat Feast··6 votes·1,165 views

Has anyone actually noticed that the CD on Zigg's W (satchel charge) is 26 seconds at rank 1 and 18 seconds at rank 5?? I can't think of another cooldown in the game for a 'normal' ability that has a cooldown for that long, besides a few random ones like A. Sol's flying move. But besides that, it's just a pop up ability... and doesn't do that much damage... Considering how sh*tty Ziggs is right now, it doesn't seem justified, especially when you have other abilities in the game which are much more impactful and on a much less cooldown.

Take Syndra's push stun, which gets down to 12 seconds at rank 5. This seems more appropriate for a Zigg's charge. I don't play Zigg's and don't actually care if he gets this buff, but it just seems ridiculous that his CD is 26 seconds for a stupid pop up ability with average dmg.

Anyone know why his cooldown is so long for his satchel charge, especially in comparison to other similar abilities in the game?

it's not a normal ability. it's a special ability that interacts with objectives to adversely affect the outcome of the game when used efficiently.

the tower mechanic is honestly a little 'cheese'. He's too vulnerable when the ability is on cooldown imo

nah. early tower is 400 team gold. you can effectively save yourself 2 waves of minions and blast first blood tower all on your own. or just leave lane to steal someone else tower. the timer is to prevent you from knocking players up 24/7. besides at 18 seconds x 45% = roughly 10 seconds. that's about average for an ability.

yeah, but comparing him to other champions with 45% cdr, 10 seconds would be a long time. Taliyah cd on her pop up ability at 45% cdr would be like 6 seconds

Yes but zigg's W has more power than Taliyah's. They can both push people through the mine fields, so tehy are equally strong there, they do roughly equal damage iirc, however ziggs is additionally a tower execute, a self escape, and another piece of zone control which, in combination with E, can block off half a lane. In that regards it has a lot more power stored in it that Taliyahs, so it makes sense that it would ahve a longer cd.

I'm assuming it's the execute damage the satchel has on the likes of turrets.

Meat Feast1 votes

ehh I mean I guess the execute is a cool mechanic, but honestly doesn't really seem that useful. Also if he uses it to execute a tower then he's vulnerable for another 26 seconds! lol

Borkahn1 votes

And now you have found the second reason for it. It's an escape.

Meat Feast1 votes

It's his only escape mechanism though. Similar mages that only have one escape mechanism have much lower cooldowns and are better imo

Stuns lose there effectiveness with more tenacity so the likes of syndra and xerath don't really cause a major issue. Zigg's is a built in flash that he can throw under himself and catapult away. That's why.

Meat Feast1 votes

I get what you're saying with a mini-flash, but it takes time to lay it down and then you need to blow it at exactly the right time to execute it well. If you mess it up, you can end up blowing yourself back or you can get CC'd before you ever even have a chance to blow yourself away. I'm not saying it's the worst ability in the game, just saying 26 seconds seems like a lot in comparison to other pop ups or mobility escapes in the game

Edit

it can 1 shot turrets at 35% health at max rank

Demolish threshold: 25 / 27.5 / 30 / 32.5 / 35%

Meat Feast3 votes

Demolish threshold is maximized at 35% fully ranked, which it's usually ranked up last I believe

i was in the process of editing it. i double checked the wiki. i'll make a note saying it was edited.

An execute that, at least in my experience, is only decent early game. Mid/Late game you're moving with your ADC, not splitpushing, and the ADC will kill the tower before you can finish it with a satchel charge.

If the cooldown on his satchel charge was lower then maybe he would have the safety to split push and be able to use it to take down towers more often, but that's a pretty big if.

Borkahn1 votes

Your autos when empowered do a fuck ton of damage to turrets. Easily could split push late game if the enemy doesn't know how to react.

Meat Feast1 votes

Ziggs would get raped late game by most other top laners though

Borkahn1 votes

I can see multiple instances a Ziggs could fight back. You play down the power of his Q and E too much. He can easily peel himself away and if you add in a Rylai's well that's just the cherry on top especially considering the magic damage from the auto.

Meat Feast2 votes

I think he would absolutely need a Rylais to do this, if at all, but considering his Q can bounce over people, and his E can be avoided pretty easily, I could see an Irelia, Jax, Trundle, Ekko, or most other top laners just running straight through him imo

Master Yi's Meditate has a 35 second cooldown at all ranks.

Meat Feast1 votes

that seems a little long too, but master Yi can stomp games without even using his meditate move lol at least in Gold

I mind the cooldown less than the fact that it does no damage even when I decide to use it aggressively.

35% AP ratio on a 26 sec. CD :D I know it's not the primary purpose of it but that's still kind of silly and actually forces Ziggs to play more massive since he's not even going to get a kill if he combos someone using W aggressively.

Ashe's e has a 80sec+ cooldown.........

Meat Feast2 votes

yeah, one of the few other abilities in the game with a long CD. Her's might make more sense though because of the utility it offers

legionnaire992 votes

1 Yasuo windwall has longer Also I think it the turret thing. Maybe aoe knock back? I think a bit lower is in order

Meat Feast1 votes

Yeah i mean even Taliyah pop up is on a lower cooldown at 16 seconds at rank 1

Digital Daddy1 votes

probably the longest passive ever is iverns at lv 1 it takes like 1m+ to go around

Fondling Gems1 votes

40 seconds I believe.

windwall has the same cooldown, zeds shadow is 22-14 seconds, and lulus polymorph is 16-12. They all have long cooldowns because they have a lot of utility. Windwall can negate a ton of stuff, zeds shadow pretty much doubles his damage, but is also his only escape pre 6, and lulus w gives a lot of damage, or a hard cc. Ziggs w is a knockback, which can hit enemies into his e for damage and a slow, it is his main way to chase people, and it is his main escape. if it had a lower cooldown then that would be a pretty large buff, as it would mean that he could push up to turret much more often without worrying too much about getting ganked, or play more aggressively using it with his e. Im not saying it doesnt need any buffs, its just that the ability has a lot of uses, and any buff could just end up being bigger than anyone expects it to.

I'd prefer the tower execute function be removed and have it's cooldown lowered. It feels very rare to use the tower execute when you're not already going to get the tower anyway.
