Does anyone else feel that there needs to be more requirements for people to play ranked? we have a champion mastery system out long enough that it should be involved in Ranked. Every time i get to promos, I get people trying new things, playing new champs, or my last promo, the 4 other players on my team all had less than 20 wins in ranked and it was a slaughter fest. My last game I had a first time jinx, who rushed IE then Berserker greaves. no zeal or hexdrinker for a 4 man ap team comp the enemy had. 95 cs in 31 minutes 2/9/4. how am I supposed to carry this? I know I'm no plat players but I get to gold promos every single season. IF we could had the mastery champion system to ranked so people can not try new champs in ranked, just like the free rotation is out of ranked, it could lower the feeders due to unskilled champ they are playing, remove people learning in ranked, which would also lower the number of toxic people due to less people trying to learn in Rank.

Im all for people needing at least mastery 4 on a champ to play it in ranked.

More requirements? Maybe. Tie it to a number that shows how many times you have played, rather than how much you have learned? No.

You can gain mastery from ARAM, Twisted Treeline, and Summoners Rift. All three of these teach habits that are counterproductive when used on the other two. Mastery is simply not the right thing to tie this to.

this is true but I can not think of another way for riot to do something. the mastery system is already in the game and if the players has mastery lvl 4 all from aram well at least he knows the champs abilities. But to play a game with someone playing a champ for first time when you are in game 2 of promos is such a waste of time in lower elos.

Unfortunately, when it comes to ranked, there's not much difference between someone playing a champion for the first time and someone playing said champion on Summoners Rift or Twisted Treeline for the first time.

I just don't see your change positively effecting anything.

ok remove mastery exp from aram. But it does show that at least they should have the champs concepts down compared to someone picking Zed becasue they lost to him last game and feel he is OP even though they have never played him before. AI and normal is meant for players to play new champs and learn not ranked games.

There will never be a mastery requirement to lock champs in ranked queues.

Trading champions is an important part of champion select. It just rarely happens in lower ELO tiers. It would also require players to have TWENTY chamions with that mastery level (if/when bans get increased to 10 champions). The mastery requirement would either need to be so low that it's irrelevant, or so high that it would exclude a ton of players from many MMR tiers. 20 champions is a LOT to require to have 4 or 5 mastery (the higher end of what could be required).

I only play around 500 games a season and I have 20 champs at lvl 4 + and another 15 at 2-3. It is not very hard, thats just a poor excused for someone who just wants to play whatever whenever

Not everyone plays 40 champions often enough. Nor should they be required to frequently play 20+ champions to obtain mastery on them.

The first point about picking champions for trading is still the more significant point, which there is no actual good counterargument for.

trading is the only valid point, and what do you mean often enough? You don't lose mastery points. People should be required to play with someone wanting to try out new things and new champs in ranked/promos either but it happens a lot.

While you don't lose mastery, you do have to play a champion a fair bit to get a decent mastery level (4-5) on them. So, you need to play them often enough to get to those thresholds. Many champs you don't need to be mastery 4-5 to actually play effectively. The low Skill Floor champs can be played effectively, even in ranked, with only a handful of games on them.
