Because there is no real tie. RNG has a 2-0 record vs. TSM. That means they effectively edge TSM on any rankings where the 2 would share a ladder slot. TSM flies home, like a lesbian seagull.

They weren't tied in head-to-head matches, RNG won the two other games they played against TSM

There is no 100% completely fair tournament format. No matter what you do, there will be some pros and cons to each. This tournament format was established, and was used in previous years, and every team knows that. You can't just go and change the tournament layout because your favored team didn't win.
