Skarner Gameplay Problems

So I started playing league a few months ago and in this time I have played Skarner quite a bit. I never played him before his rework so I don't know anything about that, and I have been following the boards more since the semester ended so I know some of the discussion about him.

To the point: the Spires just make his gameplay feel awful honestly. Like I could play around this better if there were more on SR, like in bases or lanes like in Howling Abyss or Twisted Treeline, but as it is Skarner on the most popular map just isn't fun. I know that there was some Rioter discussion about this before but I want to have fun with Skarner on all the maps, not just the small ones.

Another issue that ruins Skarner on SR is the monitoring it essentially gives the other team. I know all of this has been posted before, but it just feels like some kind of fix should be done soon to make Skarner fun rather than punishing.

Look at my match history with Skarner. I've played him since S4 and I have to say that he's one of the strongest champions in the game right now. Boasting impressive damage, unrivaled peel for a tank, and enough engage to make Nautilus green with envy, good Skarner players quickly find that they're carrying their whole team on their back.

2 ranked games with Skarner all season. Lost both of them. Season 5 you went 23/22, with a fairly even KDA. That is not "one of the strongest champions in the game". That is average.

However, your performance with Skarner in normals this year has been amazing. So why don't you play him more in ranked?

Last year you can't really count my performance with him. Most of those losses are due to me being new to the game (January through April) and playing old Skarner, and many of the wins are due to the newly reworked Skarner where I boasted a 93% winrate.

As for my ranked play? The simple answer is that college has prevented me from investing time in it. When I have, it was a duo queue where we carried in the botlane (Janna boosting man, it is a hack that gives free wins and S ranks. All you have to do is pick Janna). Once school's over I'll be investing some time into ranked, and Skarner Jungle is what I'll use to climb to Gold or above.
