That new rune that no one uses

IDEMO NA MUDA··2 votes·1,077 views

Jus wondering, anyone actually using it? I really dont really see a single benefit this thing can give you, not to any champion, ever. Every other rune that they currently use is better than taking the new rune. If anyone got any ideas for the rune and the champion, im really curious, i wanna hear ya out, and the benefits it gives you Edit: Im talking about Hail of Blades

Are you talking about Nimbus Cloak?

Nah, Hail of Blades. I don't find that keystone useful in any sort of situation on any champion

If you're referring to Hail of Blades, I haven't used it in any actual Summoner's Rift games yet, but I've been getting Quinn in ARAM at an unusually frequent rate and have been taking it on her. It feels pretty good, not sure if the best option, but it's fun.

Yeah, im referring to it And I really can't find a good reason to pick it up and a good champion to pick it for

On quinn and draven it's pretty good. On vayne it might be useful, and I should at least try it on rek'sai. Aside from them, I don't know who would choose it over another keystone

Yeah. But i just don't find bonus attack speed on the next three shots valuable at any point of the game, nor a reason for it. Lethal tempo is far better if you need an attack speed keystone

I recently tried it on Rek'sai, and I must say that it's very good on her. It forces you into a hit and run playstile, since the keystone resets by staying out of combat, but it let's you deliver your combo really really fast. I can't say if Hail of blades is the best choice for rek'sai, but I'll prob use it a lot on her.

That said, Hail of blades has more to do with mechanics tied to any particular champion, rather than normal AA builds. I mean, if a champion just wants to basic attack a lot, then Lethal tempo is definitely the best choice. But if a champion has some mechanic that works with 3 attacks, then Hail of blades can be very effective. Also, keep in mind that Lethal Tempo kicks in after 1.5 seconds of combat, and is more effective the more you manage to basic attack, something that not all champions can afford. Hail of blades works as soon as you basic attack, and after 3 AAs it has done its job and you can either use some ability or just run away, which very often would be the most sensible choice even when using another keystone. Lastly, 2 of the other domination keystones have pretty long CDs, and dark harvest works best in the late game, and has a split push element that not many champion really want. Hail of blades has a pretty short CD (despite working only when out of combat), and it helps those champions who want to go in for small skirmishes.

On Quinn, it helps her capitalize on her passive and the W AS boost, all in the span of a few seconds. On Draven, when you have to spinning axes ready and your Q is ready as well, you can deliver a serious 3 hit, Q enhanced attacks, that are very very painful. On Vayne it helps deliver your W pretty fast, although after that you pretty off just running away rather than going for a kill, unless the enemy is low health.

Now that I tried it some more, I'd also include Xin and Riven. On the Xin, like rek'sai, it helps him deliver the stun that much quicker; on Riven, it helps her to deliver her combo much quicker (though I'm not a fan on riven, so others can better explain about her).

It's also probably a good option on Rengar, though I personally prefer dark harvest and predator on him.

Last but not least, try it on Morde, for that sweet 3 hit attack combo. It's sexy :D

I've seen a lot of ADC mordekaisers recently on korean streams mostly. Its concerning that it almost always ends up with them feeding their assess off while winning the game somehow and being useful lol

item 3151 + item 3116 + R

That combo means you can pretty much take whatever build you want, and you're still relevant.

For Riven I think she'd be better off with Electrocute. Her combo is fast enough if you know how to use her. It offers nothing really damage wise. Vayne you'd want to keep attacking after using your 3 attacks, so not very good there imo. It's kind of like the Phase rush of the Domination tree. Not many champions will want it(the only ones I've really seen use it well were Darius and I'd imagine Morde would like it for his Q since he doesn't build attack speed). Xin like you said could use it. Kai'Sa COULD have used it well, if it had a reset mechanic or something, but it doesn't. It's REALLY good on her for one quick passive proc(You can W>E and then walk up and auto 3 times and proc passive extremely easily). The problem is getting back out after you go in, and you don't have a keystone after that, which is the same for most ADCs.

For Riven I agree, electrocute is probably better. Still, it has a 50-25 seconds CD, while Hail of blades has just a 4 seconds "out of combat" CD, which means you can use it way more often. I guess it all depends on how often you want to go for skirmishes, especially in lane.

For Xin it's more complicated than rek'sai, since he doesn't have reliable ways to get out. I'd say that it's still a good choice, but there may be better keystones for him.

For Vayne, I think it depends on how long you want/are able to stay in a fight. If you're confident you can survive a fight long enough, then Lethal tempo or Press the attack are definitely better. But if you less sure about it, then Hail of blades is a safe way to deliver 3 AAs and thus proc the W. Also, with that approach, you can focus on building damage, which means even just 3 attacks will hurt a lot.

Yeah but Hail of Blades adds no ACTUAL damage, and you can already combo as fast as possible without the extra attack speed. It might be used for like training wheels, but other than that it won't be necessary and will lower her overall damage because you essentially wouldn't have a keystone. As for Vayne and Hail of Blades vs Lethal Tempo, there's no time where a Vayne will want to get 3 attacks and then run away for 2 seconds before going back in. Her ultimate only allows 1 second to not attack as well. Lethal Tempo's cooldown is not that long either, so you aren't forced to use the entire duration of Lethal Tempo if you need to back out. You just play as normal and when Lethal Tempo kicks in and you are in a situation where you are free to fight and have some items, you can't be stopped. Hail of Blades just doesn't seem as worth taking over Lethal Tempo on any ranged marksmen because they usually want to continue attacking. 3 hits and then backing off isn't a common thing on any ADC unless in laning phase.
