@Riot - Can we please address Sona's actual issue?

Let's get this out of the way: Yes, Sona is very silly right now.

Considering that Sona is one of the single most oppressive champions in URF mode (and I believe used to be disabled in URF the first and/or second time around)...why did it ever seem like a good idea to put Sona in URF mode every single game, in every game mode?

But the spell spamming isn't the real issue.

I've played Sona since Season 2 and watched her numbers get gutted and occasionally buffed in a repeated cycle. Yet no matter how low Sona's numbers get, no matter how weak she feels to play, people playing against her always feel that she is oppressive and powerful unless her numbers are so trash she feels like an extra minion in lane.

It's not going to matter how you adjust Sona's cooldowns. It's not going to matter how much you nerf her heal. It's not going to matter if you keep nerfing her movespeed on E. It's not even going to matter if you reduce or remove the extra cooldown reduction on her ult. Sona's lack of interaction, and lack of real gameplay in general, will prevent her from ever feeling good to play and passable to play against.

We need some changes to the way Sona's kit functions are a basic level. So I have a few questions that I, and I believe the rest of the Boards, would very much like to hear a Riot response from:

  • Why is Sona's Q still auto-target? Is there a reason why this wasn't made a skillshot during her rework? It's been said for at least 3 seasons now that making it able to be dodged would go a long way to lowering her frustration and then more power could be added back to her Q so it feels better when it does land.

  • What is the intention of Sona's heal? You lowered the base heal and added a % missing HP portion so it could be used for clutch saves (and give Sona some form of outplay potential) but then removed it. I recalled that it was added so Sona's heal could be saved for when her carry was low instead of using it when they were healthy just to keep them topped up. Is there a reason this was changed?

  • Can we just give Sona a new E already? It's one of the worst-feeling skills in the game, even when it's actually good - very similar to Cloud Drake actually. It just seems that it will never be balanced because it will always need to be overtuned to not feel horrible to put points into. The E- Power Chord is actually nice though. Is there some way that this could become a CC ability so Sona can have CC before Level 6 and make her E also worth leveling in lane?

  • Is Sona's ult too powerful. Riot made it well-known that they do not like Sona's ult in previous seasons, but no effort was made to change it during her rework. Is it considered too iconic to change? Is it still considered too powerful even?

  • Given that most of Sona's damage is loaded into her Q and her Power Chord (and her Q - Power Chord even does extra damage), this has made item 3100 item 3285 core items on Sona which gives her a lot of artificial scaling for a support. This also combines with the sheer speed that she can Q -> Auto to proc all 4 sources of damage in an instant to make her feel like a burst mage. Are there any plans to alter her Q and/or Passive to lower the power of this interaction given how unhealthy it is?

Any answers would be much appreciated. It seems that Sona will likely get hotfixed to bring her back into line, or at least will be facing nerfs next patch to do so instead. If anyone could share Riot's current goals for how the new ult changes were intended to work, and how well they seem to be working, I'm sure we would all appreciate that as well.

I completely agree that this is the problem. They need to introduce variance and the ability to mess up. It's all good that she is an easy to learn champ, but she needs to be able to make mistakes and for those mistakes to be capitalisable for the enemy.

Can we just give Sona a new E already

I actually disagree with this one though. I like what E does for Sona. I also dislike W power cord for that matter. Damage reduction is insane and invisible. Not a good mix.
