Kled's Bear Trap on a Rope can affect Maokai's dash while he's untargetable

Not complaining, just letting people know.

When Kled has his tether on Maokai, and Maokai times his dash wrong, then his dash can be interrupted and the damage/CC will not go through. So don't goof like I did.

I would imagine a similar interaction with other untargetability effects, similar to how Fiddlesticks' "tether" works, (Camille Ekko Elise Fizz Kalista (ultimate on Oathsworn)Vladimir Zed), but I'll need to test it to be sure.

Yup, can vouch that they all work the same^^

Could you be more specific? For example, does Kled's Q interrupt Camille's ult if timed well? Or maybe just pull and apply the slow, but doesn't interrupt the ultimate? Would he interrupt Ekko's ultimate dash?

Any case where the champ is immune to cc (Camille) it won't work (unless the Q procs the exact time she's casting it such that it'll interrupt her casting it)

It depends on if the champ is untargettable or invulnerable mostly. Ekko is invulnerable and untargettable, so I don't think it'll affect him, but in the case of Vladimir or Elise I'm pretty sure it'll follow.

Maybe we'll get lucky and a Kled main will stop by.

Is Camille both untargetable and invulnerable when she jumps for her ultimate? I thought it was just untargetability. Same with Ekko. Actually, I didn't know there were champions who can go both untargetable and invulnerable.

I think she is... I know she's untargettable, and I think she's unstoppable too... she's not invulnerable though. The ult does have a tiny cast time window, and you'd already be attached to her so the yoink* would need to be as she's casting the ult exactly probably.

It's definitely not Kled being able to interrupt those so much as the opponents messing up. When I was Maokai in that game, my dash was interrupted only once, when I didn't know about the interaction.

Mhm^^ we got lucky. Scroll down~

I can confirm that untargetability doesn't do anything for you if you've already been grabbed by the bear trap. If you're not Unstoppable, then you're gonna get yoinked.

Source: level 7 kled, I guess.

Sweet, ty for the insight. ^There's your answer OP.

Does it just do damage, or also apply CC? If it also applies CC, does it pull them out of untargetability? I know it happened for Maokai, but I think it may be because his dash and untargetability is attached together.

Against Vlad: You can pull him while he's in his pool, it will deal damage, displace him, but won't take him out of the pool.

Should work similarly with Elise (dmg, CC, but won't bring her down).

IronwallJackson2 votes

^^This is the correct answer^^. The bear trap won't force them out of their untargetable state with its displacement effect, but it will still apply damage and cc.

Thank you for confirming! Do you know by any chance how it works for Ekko, who also has an untargetable dash (on his ultimate)?

TequilaZombie1 votes

Just played against the one (what are the fucking odds??), apparently it doesn't deal dmg or CC's him during the ult cast. It could have been bad timing on my part, but I doubt it works.

Ekko's ult has such a brief animation that timing it is unlikely at best. That said, the effects of Ekko's ult are strictly AoE damage, a heal, and an invulnerable, untargetable state during the dash, as opposed to a true state reset, and none of the existing effects seem like they'd shed the bear trap. You could conceivably have an Ekko ult on top of you and then get pulled as soon as he lands. Also, Ekko **is invulnerable during the ult, so in theory, only the CC would apply, if anything.

Kled's Bear Trap also interrupts the casting of Taric's Dazzle. I've had it occur several times where I've gotten snared by Bear Trap, then I'll cast Dazzle in Kled's direction before his Bear Trap ends, and when he pulls us to each other, it cancels out Dazzle. Dazzle should always go off once it's been cast, and to date this is the only ability in the game that can cause Dazzle to not go off. Not even being removed from the map like with Kench's Devour (on both ally or enemy) or Kalista's ult will shut off Dazzle once it's been cast, so I don't know why Kled gets special treatment.

That's a strange interaction. And Dazzle is uninterrupted by other knockups? That seems more like a bug tbh.

When you press E and the line of gems pops out as Dazzle begins, it's considered "Cast." It's not a channeled spell, so once the animation starts, it can't be stopped, except by death. No other CC in the game stops Dazzle once the animation begins, be it stun, roots, or displacements. I've used it constantly before getting snatched by a Blitz, Nautilus, or Thresh as a nasty little retaliation for them pulling me into their face.

Oh, I meant Kled interrupting Dazzle seems like a bug. Most abilities don't get canceled after cast, iirc. Except by death, ofc.

LostFr0st1 votes

Really? It does that??? That's gotta be a bug.
