Just played Trundle top with full defensive masteries including all the armour masteries. Full flat armour yellows. I had 58 armour at level 1... Oh and i should point out that i'm stealing AD with my Q which lowers every single ability of hers and it still doesn't matter.

Vs. a Riven with no penetration items built the entire lane phase.

I rushed Warden's Mail, Doran's Shield and Tabi with Cloth Armour start.

She absolutely destroyed every single trade without any effort and killed me in a few seconds, with no penetration items. While having mass mobility and CC. She didn't build a single pen item until 20 minutes in and still trashed a 150+ armour Udyr and Trundle in every single 1v1.

Seriously....

So wait, you went full tank on a bruiser vs a bruiser going full damage. A bruiser with higher damage output, but less dps... Why didn't you get a dps item first? item 3153

If you went full on tank then of course you're going to lose to Riven. The goal is to kill the enemy before he kills you. More often than not if you have 0 DPS then regardless of whether you're tanky you're going to lose. It would have been a different story if you went 9/21/0 Trundle with BoRK.

A super minion is attacking your nexus. You are attacking the enemy nexus. Who will kill it first? If you even have to consider the answer, then you built wrong. You cant 'just' out-tank your opponent, esp if they stack dmg and life leech. You tank damage so you can out dps them. I guess in bruam's case u 'just' tank. xD

Tanking in this game isn't purely items based. To be a tank, you have to have a defensive steroid. Trundle will be tanky ONLY when he uses his ultimate on another tanky champion. You counterpicked yourself.

This sounds more like a case of you, OP, being bad and thinking that just going full-on tank allows you to completely ignore your lane opponent.

Expected outcome: No, it doesn't. You still need to play intelligently.

recently started Malphite full tank 0-30-0 masteries with health quints, armor seals, and MR glyphs in aram with a giants belt first item, got bursted in less than 2 seconds by a talon with both of us at lv3. no one should be able to burst down a full on tank. that should not happen.

If you are going to go full tank, then you are not going to outtrade someone going full AD, nor is a full tank build designed to.

If you are going full tank, then you are trying to survive the laning phase in the hope that you can passively farm up and have your tank stats outscale your opponents.

I've experimented with top lane Rammus and Nautilus, again using full tank runes and masteries, and the same principle applies: their early game is weak, and the tank build will not outrade anything that your opponents will throw at you, nor is it designed to outrade your opponents. It is just designed to survive the early laning phase so they can tank stuff in the later stages of the game.

It's not a problem of the tank stats are bad, as the tank stats are pretty good before penetration. You just didn't have enough offense to try and trade.

A true tank champion also includes multiple hard CC, like JarvanIV Zac Sion , not just on pure armor/HP/magic resist. Just saying

I would say you also built the wrong armor Items. All of those items are good against auto attacks, and certainly work. But being a Ninja Tabi reduces damage from Auto Attacks with it's passive, and Warden's mail reduces the amount of Auto Attacks with it's passive, its not the most effective form of defense against a "Spam and leave" champ. Riven doesn't do many consequtive Auto Attacks, so that is ineffective. Build higher flat armor, and some sustain to regain health. Also, don't play auto attack focused champions against Riven. Play Garen against Riven. Every time.

You realize that because of Riven's passive she deals magic damage too right? She doesn't deal only AD damage.

Here's something cool to know, Burst beats sustain if it...well, bursts you.

Also, judging by your build, you had your hand forced and had to go full defensive because you lost lane, either that, or you have no idea how to build Trundle, specially when his Ult makes him an awesome skirmisher by stealing the target's defenses.

Flat penetration is a bad stat to buy against an armor stacker.

I'm guessing Riven snowballed hard on you, and that's why she was able to kill Udyr too.

You will want a damage item first on Trundle against Riven. In general, you are overrating early armor and underrating early damage.
