Hear me out: A summoner spell to fake cast abilities (except dashes)

Hello fellow summoners, I just had an idea, what if we had a new summoner spell that when activated your next ability will be a fake one (visual effect only) no damage, no cooldown triggered ... just bluff

How it it's used: Like reworked Leblanc's R (the one they reverted) you activate the summoner spell, then the next ability used will be the fake one

What it does: Say you're playing Blitz, you activate your summoner spell then you Q .. the rocket grab flies out but it wouldn't do anything to enemies hit, the same thing with any other projectile Or a Garen using fake E ... he spins without dealing damage Or a Karma using E ... you'd see the shield but it doesn't really exist

Where it doesn't work: You can't fake a dash ability, or an ability that moves another object like Orianna ball or Syndra's W

How it's used: It'll allow you to trick the enemy into burning their defensive spells which opens up a whole new world of sick outplays

I realize this may be too op, but I trust the balance team can come up with a fair cooldown and if too powerful limit it to non ultimate abilities, or to only available abilities (not on CD), they can also test this in a 4fun mode like Nexus blitz or Aram before taking it to SR

Leave your opinion bellow i'd like to hear if ppl would be excited to see this even if it doesn't really make it

Cheers :)

{quoted} What it does: Say you're playing Blitz, you activate your summoner spell then you Q .. the rocket grab flies out but it wouldn't do anything to enemies hit, the same thing with any other projectile Or a Garen using fake E ... he spins without dealing damage Or a Karma using E ... you'd see the shield but it doesn't really exist

1.) Champions that attempt to decieve their enemies are typically designed with that in mind... I'm unsure being able to fake an ability (such as Blitzcrank Q) would be fair considering it's not designed to be deceiving (Wukong / LeBlanc / Neeko clones are fairly simple. They're effective still, but they don't move or have a simple movement pattern that give themselves away after just a short moment whereas a fake Blitzcrank Q or something wouldn't be obvious that it's a fake until after it's already completed which probably isn't fair)

2.) Would the ability be put on cooldown when the fake version of it is used?

  • If not, I can essentially cast two Blitzcrank hooks at once and really confuse my opponent
  • If so, why would I ever want to hit my opponent with a fake ability only for it to do nothing when I could've just hit them with the real ability instead?

3.) There's a lot of abilities that would be difficult to make work with this idea, even with the restrictions you mentioned. How would stuff like Nocturne R or Nidalee R work?

  • I fear implementing this idea would not only be quite complex, but it might end up being so restrictive on what abilities can be used to counteract how OP it could be that it probably wouldn't work well.

4.) There might need to be some obvious visual effect that gives away that the next effect is a fake. It might ruin the whole point of a fake effect but really the goal would be for short term shock and awe / confusion rather than longer term confusion beyond the initial reaction.

Its an interesting idea but I think it would be truly op. I would consider adding it to X champ, one tricker like Neeko and her W

I think there is too much criteria to this idea to make it effective (it can only be used on certain abilities.) Also, you can't just trust the balance team to do anything useful when they consistently prove that they can't.

I dont like this because it makes the game even more reliant on guessing/luck. If there is no way to counter play/ tell which one is which then no thanks. You can obviously see when other summoners are used, so this would have to be just as noticeable.

Probably a good idea for a new champ or Leblanc rework. A bit too powerful for what summoners do
