New Crowd Control Effect

I believe League of legends needs a specific counter to dashes. I personally believe it would open up the playing field and reduce mobility creep in an interactive way.

An effect, working title: Cripple that prevents the use of dashes.

This would only affect "physical" Dashes, not teleport/blink abilities. It doesn't root or slow the target, just prevents the use of dash abilities for its duration.

Atm dashes are too strong (Mobility creep) because they can only be countered by mechanics that suck for dash champions but are devastating for non-dash champions and are thus increasing rather than decreasing the mobility creep.

Im interested to hear what people think of a "Cripple" effect.

I had this in mind for a particular champ, but I would like to keep this discussion in general, because Id hate to see this thread devolve into "this or that champ is OP".

Roots already prevent mobility skills from being used, while allowing other skills and auto-attacks to be used.

Also - a mobility-exclusive silence would be fairly awkward for a few champions. Some skills, like Riven's Valor, aren't chiefly mobility skills but are still disabled with roots. Really annoying when you got hit with a dark binding and you're disabled from using that shield for a year. You wouldn't just hit things like Lucian's Relentless Pursuit where all the skill does is grant mobility - you'd also hurt champions like Shyvana, Malphite, and Fiora by almost exclusively disabling their ultimates.

Finally - Mobility is an over-hyped problem. A very large number of champions have some sort of mobility skill. A lot of them have some durability, range, and CC to survive long enough to do their job as well. I wouldn't say the problem is with mobile champions, but rather champions with more mobility, durability, range, and CC than they really need. For instance - Lee Sin, in addition to being crazy mobile, also has an HP shield for durability, pretty solid range on Sonic when he needs to thorw those out, and game-changing CC with his kick and cripple. There are still champions with no mobility at all that get played at Worlds. Lissandra saw a solid share of action - and she's got nothing. Which is pretty impressive when you consider slow champions like Orianna and Mundo still have a MS boost thrown in the mix.

Root, Snare, any displacement CC works quite well. Also Silence is a pretty nasty one lol.

Dashes are just weaker blinks that can be CC'd in flight.

Your idea would not affect champions like Kassadin, Ezreal, Talon, Kat and Zed while nerfing a large part of the champion pool, including preventing champions like Shyvana, Malphite and Vi from ulting. We already have rooting effects, that's good enough.
