Janna Nerfs Justified?

This isn't a thread filled with me just whining to Riot to 'fix' a champion or whatever, I'm GENUINELY asking why Janna was nerfed so badly, and if she's considered to be in a healthy spot right now. I can definitely understand why Janna deserved to be nerfed some, she was **easily ** one of, if not THE strongest support for a while, but she had gotten nerfed patch after patch, multiple times in a row. Finally, more recently, her E degrades over time, so now I'm sitting here wondering... Was all of that necessary? Again, ALL of it, not saying she didn't deserve to be nerfed, but to THIS extent? I'm really hoping someone can explain to me what she does so extremely well that no other support in the game can do.

Yes because she's insanely overloaded.

And I don't mean that as a buzzword. I mean she actually does way too much and crowds out a lot of champs in her sub-class.

But here's the thing, as I see it, at least There are other supports that I feel do as much as Janna Nami and Lulu come to mind when people try to say Janna is overloaded, so what about them?

Problem is, basically entirety of Janna kit is peeling, her identify is peeling, and she doesn't do anything outside of peeling. Lulu and Nami, while being worse at peeling than Janna, can be used offensively. Lulu R knockup is great to set up plays, and her w is great at empowering people. Nami wave, bubble and slow on AAs are great to set up plays. Janna can only run to someone, hit w and doubletap q and run away.

Strong Janna crowds out other picks, because she's the best peeler, and if you pick a enchanter you usually want only to peel for your adc.

Ahh, I get it now... I guess it's sort of the same reason Soraka got nerfed, because super defensive supports aren't 'ideal', I suppose?

It's not like super defensive supports aren't 'ideal', it's... hard to explain. I just think Janna compared to other defensive supports like Lulu or Braum focuses too much on peeling.

Also im unsure about this statement, but Janna is the only support who can peel from multiple attackers at once, which makes her always A tier compared to other defensive supports when they're on similar levels of strength

In Janna's case, she can stop multiple engagers up to two times between Q and R and STILL has an aoe heal for 5, MS for her whole team moving towards her, MS for herself, a targeted slow, and a shield that grants AD.

Nami has more chances to fuck up her hard cc, and her hard cc isn't as good for peeling people more than it's for follow-up engage. She can't heal as many people and she can't shield people.

Lulu's got a lot of stuff you can't miss easily, but hers is all concentrated on one person.

In any case, I can't stand up for Lulu that much because when Janna's meta, Lulu's basically "other Janna", hence why 2017 was the Janna/Lulu show in bot lane (they had like 50 or so matches each, far more than any other support...even other enchanters during a meta where everyone just abused enchanter items). Nami's got a lot of tools, but they're semi-offensive more than straight defensive and they aren't so guaranteed that she just automatically does her job right by virtue of existing.

I honestly completely agree with everything you said, but I still can't help feel like having a champ that's really good at being defensive isn't that bad a thing. She's still super squishy, and if she wastes her ult trying to save herself, that's still good for your team. I'd also like to bring up how ridiculously aggressive bot lane has gotten recently, with bot lanes like Swain + Morg and Brand supp.

''Shes super squishy'' casually gets 700 hp shield Ok, I know its not 700 anymore because of all the support item nerfs but fucking hell was it high before all these enchanter item nerfs.

Because Janna is so good at stopping plays, no one even tries to make any against her. Riot wants to see plays at Worlds.

I feel like that can be said about a lot of supports! But I definitely understand how Janna is especially good at it, just upsets me that Janna was nerfed excessively, but barely any other supports were touched.

She either dominates the meta or isn't played. That champ needs to lose some of her strengths if she's ever gonna sit in a healthy spot.

''for a while'' 5 years. 5 fucking years. She just reached highest peak because of all the ardent shit. What do you mean nerfed patch after patch? She was nerfed twice in the spawn of S7 - S8. One of them being -5 ms & -5 dmg on her W. The other one was the actual important one. Her E degrades because it gives bonus AD stats. Otherwise it too would be only a 3s shield like Lulus.
