Riot Wants to Keep Players Playing League

Yet they have such kneejerk reactions to a lot of behaviors. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any of the reportable or bannable offenses are good by any means, but some of them even result in an instant permaban. Riot doesn't have any sort of leniency or forgiveness for certain actions, and even when they do have 'mercy', they still punish really terribly. Is the League penalization system run by a program, are people not involved at all? Or are the people just forced to follow a REALLY strict set of rules themselves. Am I the only one thinking this way? I'm probably just crazy

If it was first offense permaban I would agree with you, but you have so many prior warnings before hand.

Rarely anything results in instant perma ban. Only death threats or threats to shoot up school or something do.

The punishment system is fully automated, but Riot can manually ban people. Its pretty rare though.

I've never heard of the automated system instantly permabanning anyone prior to any other punishments though. It will ban you for two weeks first.

The system punishes people based o consistency x severity.

Severe toxicity over a game or two will get someone punished.

Minor toxicity such as passive aggressiveness will still get people punished over many games.

People whom post minor toxic chat logs here typically have a habit of the same behavior, it's just the behavioral system is horrible in telling others they have a history of minor toxicity.

Instant permabans are generally for extreme toxicity/racism/homophobia/telling others to kill themselves

why should they be forgiving when players exhibit such disgusting behavior?
