An Actual Fizz Main's Look at the Fizz Nerfs on PBE

Hello!

Just to preface who I am, I am a Plat 4 Fizz Main (With another account in Plat 5) ,

Let me be frank about something I also said when the new items came out. Fizz is OP this patch. This is for 3 reasons specifically:

  1. CDR Options are very abundant and coincide directly with Fizz's most natural build paths (Including Zhonyas, Abyssal, and Morellos)
  2. The Lost Chapter is a fantastic item that counteracts one of Fizz's primary weaknesses which is mana pool, he can use his entire mana pool in 1 combo, and lost chapter lets you stay on the map for longer.
  3. Fizz does exceedingly well against the immobile mages that dominate mid-lane with the new mage update.

Now, I think something also has to be said. The items give less AP, and Fizz's mid-game AP is lower while building Zhonyas, and Abyssal which necessitate the need for Fizz to do multiple rounds of cooldowns in order to do damage to his target, with the assumption that he is not insanely ahead of the enemy.

Thoughts on Fizz nerfs:

  1. E cooldown increase is very welcome, and it's not too drastic. This still rewards Fizz players for buying CDR and because at max level the CDR with 45% (very easy to achieve) 10 - 4.5 = 5.5, as compared to on live which is 8-4.5 = 4.4 seconds. Compared to before this patch where 20% CDR was just about how much you could buy which lead to 8-1.6 = 6.4. This 1 second difference I think is healthy because of the aforementioned inherent AP differential present in this patch.

  2. Passive change where unit collision is NOT avoided now. This change, I am personally not a fan of as the unit collision allowed you to do some really interesting, albeit rare, trading patters in lane, and it added into the thematic of being a slippery fish. Although I do have to say that if this is removing some invisible power from Fizz then this isn't a bad place to do it.

My Recommendation:

I personally would like to see the passive remain, and some other nerf be done, maybe to the AP ratio on his E which puts more of his damage loaded onto his W and sticking potential to the target. His E is also most often the most out-playable part about his kit, Zed's flashing the e due to the delay, an ADC flashing or dashing away from the E damage which leaves Fizz in vulnerable spot for counter attack--- a play pattern which I think is really healthy.

I really hope they don't thru go with the passive change.
