Why can people play an entire game without a trinket?

I don't understand people who buy sighstone and then keep the level 1 yellow trinket. I don't understand people who don't upg their trinkets after 30 mins. It's 250g, which is chump change at that point. I don't understand people who don't buy pink trinkets or upg to pink wards vs Eve, Teemo or even Twitch.

This seems very basic to me.

However, what I don't understand at all is not "buying" a trinket. It's free and it seems like the game could have a mechanic that forces a player to get one. Not getting a trinket is either trolling or a total failure on Riot's part of teach the player base about getting free items and basic vision control/denial.

When i came from Dota 2, buying/swapping out trinkets took me awhile to get use to. I basically had to focus a lot more to remember. Every game by a certain time I would try to do it. Its repetition that will help people remember. But basically, people just forget. Same with upgrading, its kind of new because before it wasn't really worth it till late game. But even now i sometimes say to myself, yeah i could upg my trinket for 250, but im only 600 gold off from my next item. Unless its convenient to spend 250 gold upgrading it, i might hold off till later lvls. I find myself wanting to upgrade it at lvl 7 or 8. By the time i hit lvl 9 I have my eyes on bigger buys. Just my 2¢

Fair enough. I put them in all my builds. On non-sup, I try to upg after boots and first item or there abouts. Knowing where the enemy is more valuable to me than the next item in many cases. It's also not just the sup that is responsible for good team vision.

On sups, someone told me to switch to sweeper when I got sighstone.. It made sense and buying sighstone at 800g and switching to sweeper has been automatic since. Simple change to my play style and very good advice.

Yeah their is no reason to keep the yellow trinket on a support after getting sightstone, thats when i swap my trinket too. But yeah vision is very valuable I agree. In a way you could say i'm making excuses for not upgrading it and thats cool every has their opinion. As poor of an exucse this is, a lot of people at my MMR (silver 1 ish) Won't pay attention to the wards that are placed. However!!! I've noticed in a lot of my games that i buy a sightstone in the jungle the map is freaking lit up like an Xmas tree. 3 wards from me, 3 from the support and 2 pinks each generates a lot of vision. If my team is smart enough to group, it usually results in a win. Its not 100% but sometimes the extra vision goes a long way. Partially due to the fact that, like you said, people don't upgrade/swap their trinket. If you look at the enemy team and see they don't have sweepers, their support is going to have a hard time dewarding with 1 sweeper lol.

Surprisingly easy to forget about honestly.

I wish they would remove trinkets and add a second slot so that consumables do take up an item slot. That way full build champs can still buy pots and I think boots should have its own slot as well. Either way its bronze 5 most of the people in your elo are trolls or players who do not know any better.

I respect the opinion, but disagree. If everyone focused on vision control and denial a little bit more, the game would be far better off.

Also, you can buy the big pots even when your inventory is full. After 10-15 mins, the health/mana pots provide little to no value.
