Doom bots may be coming back, this is my hope for it.

9/20 PBE Update: Ivern, Star Guardian Janna, Jinx, Lulu, & Poppy, 2 new Ward skins, several summoner icons, & more!

"An oddball "FogofWarOverlay_DoomBots.dds" file was added in today's update. Nothing concrete to go on but it is the first mention of the Doom Bots game mode that we've seen lately."

A file that may be for Doom bots has been spotted, this may mean that Riot is working hard to give us back Doom bots into the RGM, which is awesome but I just hope they keep the 3 difficulty as the old one did but take out some of the exploits that the old bots had, like you could put one person on top and bot and 3 on mid and just push like that, it was easy in ways whereas any difficulty had the same exploit of screwing around on different lanes and half the time bots wouldn't follow, then certain bots wouldn't even hit you under tower (Blitz, Karthus, other ranged.)

Idk I just am excited if Doom bots is coming back in the near future, as it was insanely hard and i pray it continues to be.

(P.S this is all on the basis of one file, Doom bots may not even come back for a year or so, depends.)

I would like a Doom Bots vs URF It woudl be kinda funny and the people that like to spam their cancerous champion all the time that are currently whining about being random can have a place to go.

I had the same idea. Would be amazing to see the bots with all of these bonus abilities and modified kits go against normal kits powered by U.R.F. mode mechanics.

Would be pretty neat idea, though it would probably be murder on the servers. Pretty sure those two modes are quite server intensive already.

As someone that plays across servers i can tell you only NA servers woudl be able to run it. Is funny when I get the better ping from NA than from LAN despite being 1500 miles difference from where I live.

I mean if you liked Dark Souls style of slamming head vs wall (Besides the exploits to their AI) then it's the mode for you!

Yorick Now summons maidens of the mist instead of mistwalkers, and each maiden gets 4 mistwalkers. I would love to see this.

It was the one time bots actually posed a threat, even to a team that has a good amount of experience under their belts. The best part about this mode is that there will always be more they can add to it to keep it fresh. They can add a new bot with crazy new abilities, new passives for the bots to use and new map effects like a ghost fiddlesticks ult out of nowhere (That scared the crap out of me first time I saw it happen O_o). If RGM is going to last, this will definitely be one of the modes to make it happen.

Oh yea, things will get nuts. for example, here is doom bot Annie with Tibbers:

It was impossible to win the hardest difficulty without split-pushing them to oblivion.

The AI wasn't that smart, but they still had freakishly strong abilities.

Calling it right now, they are going to save it for the harrowing (which would be the smart thing to do honestly, cause that would make it even better X3). That said, I'm hoping they add new passives to the bots. Here are some of the ones I'm hoping for:

  • Yorick mist walkers occasionally spawn and attack you

  • Illaoi's tentacles spawn from enemy champs and attack you

  • Azir turret on fallen turrets

  • 5 man TwistedFate Ult to a singled out champ

  • Volibear Passive (if it's not already a thing)

The TF ult was already a thing. It would kick in when you started dragon.

strange, don't think I had that one happen to me. Then again, it's possible that they might have been dead whenever we had someone go for dragon to get the buff. since no one wanted to risk it otherwise.

Yeah, being able to cheese the bots through pure split pushing was kind of a let down and it took away from quite a bit of the difficulty.

If they can't improve the ai such that it defends its towers adequately perhaps they just give the doom bots super towers or better creeps (or different ones like we see in other modes). Just make pushing a little more difficult to give the bots time to do stuff.

I mean, they have had much longer to learn better programming for the bot code, even if only TT bots use it at all.

I don't know if I like the idea of bringing it back. The issue I had with doombots is that you had to split push against the level 5's in order to actually beat them. Most of the doom bots could easily take out 2-3 champions on their own, and if 3 were together an entire team wombo was rarely enough to actually kill them all. This gets worse with the Garen in every bush mutaton/passive thing

people wanting it on rotation lel. this'll get so boring so fast. if it was already back less people would be playing it than poro king. it can come around every 3-4 months but to put it with equal rotation with the others will just make it obviously the least popular mode, which i would think riot doesnt wanna put in extra work to revamp it, just for that to happen

I've actually not played this mode yet. Not sure if I want to see it come back if it means we get a lot of bugs in regular games as a side effect.
