Let us change in game option out of game!

Superdoer·2/28/2016, 10:17:19 PM·400 votes·6,990 views

Seems silly the only place you can set game options is when you're supposed to be playing the actual game. Let us set key binds ect out side of the game.

I'd like to add that there are a TON of options and it can take a very long time to read everything you can do with key binds. This not something that should be required to be set only during gameplay.

Edit: Pointed out by many people is the fact that you can create custom games for editing in game options, albeit, in a game. Would still love to be able to tweak all my in game settings out of the game!

Definitely agree that this should be doable out of game, but for now, note that you can also set things in a custom game, where there's no pressure to be actually playing.

Conversely, why can't we change out of game options in game?

It took me forever to turn off my chat filter because you can only change it out of game, but I would only remember that I haven't turned it off yet once I went into another game.

You may need to wait until 2020 when they update the client to allow that.

Is is also possible to make it so you can see your ping outside of game? I hate it when I go into a game and on the loading screen my ping is like persistently 500 or something, and then I'm lagging at the beginning of the game until my ping dies down.[zombie-nunu-bummed]

requiring people to edit game files is not really a solution, and i don't know what to change or do i really want to go through it all.

To add to this please let us mute the bloody champ select music while in champ select

This would be great. It's annoying having to make a custom game every time I want to try a different setting\keybinding.

I just dont understand why games like smite client is so much better it makes the games times lowered but league of legends takes 30 years to connect to a game and you dont know if ur dced and it didnt tell you or your sitting at 100 percent for no reason

This would be a great idea for the new client. The current client isn't quite suited for this, mainly due to its age and spagehtti coding.

NO this would make too much sense so NNOOO

I agree with this one. Its most annoying when I wanna stream and I wanna tweak my game settings right and I have to make custom game for it. And then it gives the scary warning about "your team needing you" even you are only one in the game. I know its not supposed to make me pay for it since its custom and I m only one in the game but its still scary.

If you think that's ever going to happen you're wrong. This game has been out for like 6 years now and you think they'll add it in now? Highly doubt it. While I agree it's useful feature to have outside of the game. And important one too.

Wait for the new client. It's around the corner.

kaltenashes2/29/2016, 2:07:32 PM1 votes

you can create a game with only you (or add some bots) and change your settings...

yeah i know it sucks =/, if i try to change setting during a real game, the screen freezes for like a minute, happens a lot when i disable every sound or try out some graphics changes to see if my pc can handle

i want an option to disable chat or mute myself or switch enter to something crazy to make sure i dont type anything evil while i'm starting to tilt

I agree strongly to the fact that an option menu out of game would be highly beneficial. But at the same time, I feel Riot is more focused on in-game things and if you are spending time doing your key bindings, graphics, etc. out of game, it would be taking away from play time and decrease overall hours players are putting in. It also makes sense that the menu and options are ingame because it's easy access and the changes immediately take place. Part of the reason I think League is the most played game in the WORLD is because of the amount of play time put in.

I forget, is the Rito Reasoning on this the same/similar to the reason they don't have a sandbox mode, or something different?

Decrit2/29/2016, 5:14:50 PM1 votes

Yes Yes please

Sluiceway2/29/2016, 5:14:55 PM1 votes

Upvoted, too bad Riot ignores good ideas.

ahferroin72/29/2016, 5:28:34 PM1 votes

This is more important than ever now that they have server-side settings synchronization, as that causes the traditional method of just manually editing the configuration with a text editor to not work consistently.

Chroud2/29/2016, 5:53:49 PM1 votes

would Riot be apposed if someone wrote a program to change these options via not in game? Does this break the Terms and Service if its just a simple Setting change prior to being in the game? (Only legal settings nothing different then what the in game options would allow you to do.)

A simple settings Program would be easy to make. Witch i have done before with other games such as FFXI.

My only worry would be the options not there for everyone so would this create a disadvantage for someone trying to do these settings changes with the limited time you have in game.?

If not ill get to writing this simple program.
