Unlock all champions for ARAM

Superdoer·4/30/2018, 4:18:02 PM·50 votes·17,053 views

Why is ARAM not ALL RANDOM? It'll prevent people from making accounts simply to abuse the random aspect of ARAM. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. I like playing ARAM but I feel like certain champions are always in the comps, and I am pretty sure ARAM accounts are partially to blame.

thoughts?

They should rework that mode, starting with eliminating Aram-only accounts, which make it totally anti-fun.

I don't think I'd ever play ARAM if this was the case... there are a small number of champions that I will NEVER be willing to play. Under any circumstances.

This has been wanted for years, they haven't done it, so it's not gonna happen anytime soon

Why is ARAM not ALL RANDOM?

It is, it's exactly as random as it was when it was a player-driven mode. "All Random All Mid" means "Everyone pick random, everyone go mid". It never, not once, meant all champions would be unlocked; this may shock you but not everyone feels the need to buy every single champion. I myself don't own I think 10 or so, mostly ADCs and Assassins, and you know what? I don't have to play them. I'm not even violating the spirit of ARAM as the original player-driven mode also allowed you to do this.

"ARAM accounts" are supposedly a thing but there's a pretty inherent confirmation bias in that when trying to determine how many of them there are and whether they exists.

I keep running into good ARAM champions and that shouldn't be a thing because of RNG!

The common battle-cry. That said:

  • I've had runs where the same champion is given to me multiple games in a row for ARAM despite my account having over 100 champions. I am missing 10 or so, not 90% of the roster.
  • You should see ARAM-worthy champions more often than the others. That's why rerolls exist. D&D example, roll 3d6, reroll 1s and 2s. With that in mind, you believe scores of 9 - 18 are the norm when in reality they are not, you just don't get to see the 3 - 8 results. People reroll or even dodge when they think they have shit champs.
  • Even out of the roster I have, more often than not, I'm given a champion that is either good or passable in ARAM. I believe the RNG actually favors having champions that aren't as useless for the mode.

It is already all random. All random refers to all players locking in via the random button, which is automatically done in ARAM for you. The random button selects a random champion from the selection you own (plus free week).

Leave it as-is. If i dont own a champion, chances are i dont want to play said champion.

I feel like ARAM was fixed pretty well in that MOST champions can do well on it now, but yes they should all be unlocked. Either you have a separate ARAM account, or have to play with people that have specific champs for their ARAM games but are worse mechanically than you.

People often don't want to play champs they don't own so opening all of them would lead to many more dodges and in turn a longer queue time. Imo, riot should just let us play all mid and pick/ban champs. I have been seeing many more "ARAM" accounts these days than ever it seems, and getting more dodges.. Maybe it is time to remove the "random" aspect of it as it hasn't been that random for years now..

I disagree, removing the random part defeats the point of the mode. The reason ARAM accounts suck is because they follow a general meta of what's broken in ARAM. Not letting people pick the most unbalanced champions lets a lot more strategies open up.

They could just give people who own all champs bonuses in ARAM such as an +1 max rolls or getting a roll every match if you are not at max.

ARAM is not all random because it reduces the need for new players to buy champions. If you can create a brand new account, log in and play ARAM with anyone, then why would you buy champions and play on Summoner's Rift? It's not effective from a cost standpoint.

Riot already stated aram accounts are not a problem. You must see one every other game or so, it really doesn't matter.

"So there really aren't many aram smurf accounts - it's a really, tiny amount last we checked. While they certainly do exist, the fact you see those champions often is more due to a number of other factors."
