I'm not sure if you remember back before Sightstone was a thing, but back then fewer people warded than now.

Yo, stop with all the remove sightstone threads. People will either ward or not ward regardless of sight stone.

Can't tell if you're a support main, or just hate supports.

Edit: also, if the support can do a little more warding for everyone, then people can buy their mejais quicker.

Nope. Its an efficiency thing. A team with one gimp is better off than a team with that gimpness spread out. So while warding is everyones job, supports will always do the bulk of it, with or without sightstone.

Thats true but having the support take the hit for "efficiency" sake is part of the reason supports feel like everyone's pack mule. What about "fairness" sake, shouldn't everyone share the burden?

It isnt about being fair, it is about winning. Riot has actually done a lot to make supports better off. Gold generation has greatly increased supports build choices, and sight stone itself is made in a way to be basically an item supports can buy so they dont have to spend 1500 gold on wards every game. The only way supports wouldnt have the bulk of warding responsibilities would be to limit wards to one every person. This would be a big vision nerf, and i would rather be able to have my three wards out and sacrifice an item slot for my team, then to have warding drastically cut like that.

Yeah Sightstone was made to reduce the gold sink for the supports and make them more viable as something other than warding machines. Other than Lee Sin, almost nobody else gets Sightstone, nor should they. It is much better for them to get pink wards and sweepers.

I've been playing since Beta, and before Sightstone (and let's not forget trinkets) people warded much less than they do now.
