Option to Have Champion Names in Place of Usernames Above Health Bars

Just for the record, I'm colourblind and have colourblind mode on, but with all the different skins in the game I can't tell some champions apart quickly. For example, if I'm in a game and multiple of my opponents are using mecha kingdom skins, it takes me a few seconds to distinguish which champion they're playing. This isn't exclusive to those skins either, I have had previous issues where I have misjudged what champion someone was using due to their skin (I've gotten one of skins mixed up with one of ).

The simple fix for this problem is to have an option in the settings to show, instead of Summoner names above the health bar, the champion name. Of course with the ability to still see their username when looking at the scoreboard.

I would also like an option to turn off skins entirely for client side, because skill shots are so hard to see in some of them. Like karma's dark matter skin, I can't see her Q shooting at all.

if were talking about equality for some reason on this discussion about champion names, ill let you uhh know its not the 1900's where the femenists fight for equality, its 2020 where they fight to take away male rights for female rights. femenists want more rights and they do it in the name of equality, when on earth have they fought for a single male right? never, when have they fought for equality things like the draft where only males get drafted? never, you'd think if they were fighting for true equality theyd go for everything, but its only female rights they want. Like, there is a thing that devs can call artists and have a 1 on 1 with them about "projects" for like 1 hour or something. And some devs call the same female artists...for work projects...

Also, you say women don't fight for equality. Maybe you should start to be more SPECIFIC. If you think GLOBALLY women have the same rights as men you are deluded. If you think first world countries where men and women are considered equals don't have ANY give and takes with third world countries where equality isn't even a discussion. lol. The vast majority of feminists - enough to make the rest negligible - are not trying to "take away male rights". There are tons of areas that are still not equal - pay, for example, and even small things like temperatures in offices, which are set for male comfort (as in, the optimal office temperature was literally calculated using the BMR of men, which is higher than women, making men run warmer). So, achieving compromises like a fairer office temperature is perceived by men as having rights taken away ("we were comfortable but now we're a little warm!"), but it's actually achieving more equality.

Very much this, but some people pay good money for their entire team to look like an army of clones so the enemy can't tell as easily whether a ward briefly revealed a support or a carry.

God I hate the sameface on those skins. Don't get me wrong, the theme is really cool and they look awesome actually. And nothing against iG of course. But this image really shows off how limited the characters designs in this game can be.

lancer zero blitz Q is pay to win. dead silent. doesnt match the sound effect of all the other skins at all. theres no loud punch.

That doesn't have to be the case at all. When I buy skins it's because I think it looks good, and I want to see it when I play. I don't buy skins so everyone sees it.

I don't think asking for an option to turn off skins for yourself only, especially for ranked should be that hard or tedious. After all I would still see my skin, I just wouldn't see karma's dark matter skin particles where I can't tell what's going on, and a few of the other skins have that problem too. They have too many sound effects, too many particles, too many varied animations, etc.

People shouldn't have to learn a champions 60+ voice lines because they get a new skin for the same six champions every other week with 10 new voice lines each time, with 8 different ways they alert the enemy they are using their ult.

Heck look at the elementalist lux skin. She has...eight different things she says for her ult alone and that's just one skin. (Don't get me wrong I own that skin, but I don't particularly think it's fair that it has a bunch of various particle effects/voice lines/animations that my opponents have to either A) Already know or B) Learn on the spot)

And it just gets worse as they continue adding in ultimate & epic/mythical skins. (Pulsefire thresh I'm looking at you)

It's not just about what you see, it's about that other people who bought skins to Fund the game want to be seen. I don't just buy a skin so I'm the only person who sees it.

And clarity of skins is the least of the problems one has to overcome to get good at League.

When I first started playing this is what I thought would happen when I unchecked "show summoner names". It just seems like an obvious feature. Maybe replace the "show summoner names" checkbox with a selection box called "name shown above champion health bars" that allows you to select between "Summoner name", "Champion name", and "Neither"?

That's what I was wondering. Isn't it something that should have been put in the game as soon as skins that are drastically different looking from the original champion were coming out? I've gotten everything from people using star guardian to mecha kingdom skins confused because I only saw them very briefly in vision. In a game where you constantly have to multitask, having to divert any more attention to just trying to recognise what champion someone is using can be really difficult.

Riot used to have a philosophy about making champion skins not be too different from the base champion (be it silhouette, walk cycle, etc ) for this very reason. But now we have things like the IG skins where I really can't tell in a split second which is which unit l until I see a spell, or the ever growing list of mech lines they release that don't read clear enough.

My biggest pet peeve at the moment is actually true damage Ekko his appearance, wall cycle and abilities are so drastically different from his base that I can't tell what champion he is in game. This doesn't just effect color blind people. Riot's skins are too samey and not visually different enough anymore.

I've thought about this too, and if they're going to stray from good visual design, then they should at least have some kind of remedy for the problems caused by disobeying crucial design rules. If two people on the opposing team have mecha kingdom skins, I would be perfectly fine with it if I could have the champion name displayed above them so I can... Y'know... Actually tell who is trying to kill me.

This would be super helpful. Also an option to disable skins completely, for other players only, in ranked only, etc.

I can't remember what skin it was (I think it was around when Irelia got reworked) but my friends and I played against a Kaisa and Irelia in an aram and no one could tell them apart.
